In fact, it was Reagan who authorized them letting out sex offenders earlier so they'd have more room in prison for the non-violent drug offenders. The drug war is a lost cause like Prohibition. That's why I say they should legalize them all, regulate them, and tax the daylights out of them. They should do the same with prostitution. All that revenue they make in addition to all those other billions they ste could probably pay off our national debt in a year or two. I'm cool with that. The DEA is one of the most corrupt government agencies out there.
Don't forget the war in Iraq and Prop 13. Both highly relevant here.

How else do you think they'll come about? Do you honestly think Bill Gates, Ted Turner, Donald Trump, or Rupert Murdoch will spend their earnings to support these programs? Isn't it ironic how few and far between Americans are willing to pitch in? Further, I hear them harp about taxes in Europe and Canada being sky high. Newsflash, everybody! Those nations have superior medicare and education compared to ours. Has anyone else taken note of how many Americans want a deal for nothing?
NJ spends about 18K per student in our urban areas and you say that's not enough?

Police Captains and Chiefs in NJ routinely get pensions of 90K and more with lifetime retiree benefits for them and their spouses and you say we should pay more?

No thanks.

throwing money at a dead horse is not going to make it all of a sudden come back to life. I homeschool my child, getting her out of the public education system was the best thing we ever did.

Do you really believe that BS? He doesn't complain? All Obama has done since he was elected is complain about Bush, complain about Republicans, complain about anything and anyone who doesn't kowtow to him and duck all responsibly for everything he's done.

I totally agree with Yooperkat. Cut programs that do not work, reduce spending, cut taxes and demand ACCOUNTABILITY by all school districts for every penny they spend. Get rid of the stupid "touchy feely" classes and replace them with things like reading, writing and 'rithmatic. And while you're at it, get rid of the superfluous tech classes (come on *every* kid knows how to operate a computer these days).

20yrsinBranson

You said the magic word "ACCOUNTABILITY"!

Don't look at me, I voted YES for my city's latest bond package for school and infrastructure improvements. And it raised my taxes.

Yes, I agree. The price of this war was one neither we nor our children can afford. Also, the rich should pay more in proportion to their income in property taxes. It's only fair, so you're absolutely right.

All he's done since he's been office is work his butt off trying to clean the mountain of crap Bush left him with only a spoon with zero cooperation from Congress. He proposed not only the Balanced Budget Amendment but also the Equal Pay Amendment, but they filibustered that just because they were being pricks. He even saved us from a double dip recession.
