As a former alcoholic, I'd vote for pot. Much less dangerous, not addictive, and actually benefits people medically. There are so many benefits to hemp as well.
I can't smoke pot, it makes me dumb and sleepy, but I have no problem with others using it.
If Pot were legal to be a pretty, green plant in folks' backyards, again, then I'd vote for pot, wine or beer and making Illegal, all of the manmade crud, but then I'm dreaming.
Personally, I would not use any of it, except a glass of redwine when flying. Heck, it relaxes a person and is helps to thin the blood, too.
My bottom line is that I think the human condition of needing to change the consciousness is truly pitiful. I meditate to become more sober and in-control. It was the seventies and I did enough escaping and "getting high." Now, I see that each "high" is actually a new Low.
Even the smell of pot makes me nauseated... I was at the drive-in last night and the people a few cars down from us decided to smoke some weed and I had to sit in the car (we use lawn chairs outside) until they were done because my stomach starting turning. However, I do think it should be legal, I just wish I could get away from it. One of the not-so-great benefits of living on the California coast...there's almost no getting away from weed, it's everywhere.
As for alcohol, I do enjoy a drink here and there. I like going wine tasting, I like tasting craft beers and I really enjoy making up cocktails. However, I rarely get 'drunk', I just like the taste.
My vote goes for alcohol
I would rather have a couple of potheads in the next car then a violent drunk.
