Could you name some examples? Thanks to unnecessary military intervention in those wretched countries, we've now got their backwards-thinking refugees flooding into our country. How are we freer? Certainly not at the airports. Certainly not in legally mandated medical marijuana dispensaries in California. Certainly not under any law mandated by the patriot act. Certainly not under the Affordable Care Act just approved by the SCOTUS> We are less free now than any other time in my life.
If you have an issue with the conflicts the United States is involved in - take it up with the political leaders. They are elected by and represent the people. If you don't like what they do - then vote them out. A lot of Democrats voted for military intervention in Iraq. Did you vote them out? If not then you are a hypocrite.
The politicians send our soldiers into combat - they are doing what they are told. They deserve your support and nominal respect for defending your liberty and republic. If you don't like the mission they are in - then work to end it - please do not trash the boots on the ground who are risking and giving their lives. They should be honored - and you should be ashamed of yourself.
the lunch that a soldier purchased at Baltimore airport last week. There were about 15-20 people inline ahead of me at Subway at BWI. When I got online, this young soldier was number four inline. Not one person acknowledged him, thanked him, or even offered to buy him lunch. As he was reaching into his pocket to pay I walked over to the register and said "Thanks man, this ones on me". These kids are leaving home for months at a time, many may not even come home. Take care of those that take care of us. Please acknowledge the men and women who serve America. If you can't afford to treat them to a lunch, a simple smile or thank you will make them feel good.
You're making assumptions.
You and I don't know if all or some of those 15-20 people:
a) had already paid for the lunch of another serviceman or servicewoman that day, yesterday, or maybe will do so tomorrow;
b) were former servicemen or servicewomen themselves;
c) were not US citizens or legal residents and, therefore, his service really wasn't for them so they have no obligation or reason to thank him;
d) were buying for a large family and every dollar counts - even the one they could have spent on the soldier;
e) were simply busy in their own thoughts.
etcetera...

lol... So if I don't offer to pay for a soldier's lunch at the airport, it means I'm self-centered? Too funny.
And so where does it end? What if there are two soldiers together? Or five? Do I need to buy lunch for all of them? Is there a quota of some kind? What if I see more soldiers the next day when I'm coming home? Am I obligated to buy lunch for them too? This could get expensive.
I agree that no one is obligated to buy a soldier lunch. The premise of the thread is rather silly - however it did provoke the military haters and brought them out of the woodwork - if the thread accomplished anything - it identified the enemies of America - the wacky liberal extremists.
Do you offer to buy lunch for a police officer, a fire fighter, a garbage worker, a street cleaner.....all dangerous service oriented jobs...there are more I could think of. There is no draft right now. Being a soldier is a job.
One memorable Thanksgiving some nut-job neighbors we had went off the deep end and the police came. We were in the middle of our meal when we heard the sirens.
After they carted the evil-doers off to jail I made up a bunch of plates and served about 10 cops Thanksgiving dinner. After that we got extra patrols on our street and the nut-job neighbors moved because they didn't like seeing the LAPD constantly cruising by.

Who told them to enlist and aid the politicians cause?
I'm sorry, he applied for a job.
He chose his career/job.
No one forced him to do anything.
Why is he special? He's not.
He's doing nothing for the US and not protecting any of my freedoms.
If anything, he's making my life less safe.
Obviously you are so much better than those than lay their lives on the line everyday so perhaps YOU should go and SHOW THEM HOW THAT IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How selfish and inconsiderate can one human be? It is lunch or a thank you. Without the men and women who serve in the Military or Police Officers, Doctors, Nurses, Lab Techs, Firefighters, Janitors, Housekeeping and any other "service" related profession the USA would NOT be as it is today.
Definitely not a perfect world but much better than many other places around the world where most humans especially women have NO RIGHTS AT ALL.
If you would voice your comment in some of the other countries around the world you would be jailed, found guilty at trial and either have your head cut off, your tongue cut out or be stoned...........all in public as an example of what happens to those who go against the rules of the governing powers.

Are you serious?
I will tell you what - why don't you run for president - get elected - and then carry out your apparent dream of America having no organized armed forces to defend the Republic. Disband all military units - melt every weapon into recycled metal - scuttle all our naval ships, tear down all aircraft, and destroy all the nuclear weapons. Entirely dismantle the military - this is what you want is it not? After all - you don't want anyone to enlist - or at least you criticize them if they do - so it is logical to reason that you want the military done away with.
Watch what happens. You will be the last President of the United States because we will be invaded and taken over by another nation so fast you won't know how it happened.
I understand your unhappiness with certain wars that the nation is involved in and has been in the past. That is fine - your ire should be towards the politicians who brought our country into those conflicts. The soldiers are defending our freedom and security everyday - disrespecting them is wrong and uncalled for.
Who told them to enlist and aid the politicians cause?
And when they stop....who will be FORCED to go?
