Empire State Building shooting victims say NYPD fired 'randomly' into street | World news | guardian.co.uk

All this craziness yesterday over the Empire State shootings and it appears it was the NYPD doing all the shooting. Mayor Bloomberg should stop worrying about gun control across the country and worry about his own back yard.

Unfortunately the Dems are probably celebrating as this is a major black eye for police commissioner Ray Kelly who many were trying to persuade to run for the GOP mayoral seat.

I heard a tumbleweed blew down the street before all hell broke loose.

What do think the cops should have done? Let the guy who just killed a man on the sidewalk keep right on shooting or just walk away?

I need more evidence to make any informed analysis about the situation.

Most (if not all) of the injuries/wounds were caused by bullet fragmentations coming off the building or flower pots, etc., not direct bullets strikes.

Bloomberg is an idiot but based upon the video the police had little option other than to do what they did.

Actually, what should have been done was the media should have shut up first and gathered all the facts before publishing their facetious articles trying to demonize the 2nd Amendment by calling this another mass shooting that turned out to be police misfire.

The police had to shoot nine people before somebody got hurt.

From what I read most of the people were hurt from flying debris. The man was standing a very short distance from the officers. Bullets tend to go through a person at this distance. They hit things, shatter, go in all sorts of directions.

He pulled his gun on them. They had no option other than to fire first to make sure he was no longer going to be a threat. Yes, it's too bad they couldn't have asked him to wait until they cleared the area but I can't really see him going along with that.
