Let's just hope there aren't any stampedes or fistfights over $2 waffle makers like in previous years.

My Fellow Conservative Friends,

Please support the boycott of stores choosing to be open on Thanksgiving by not shopping on Thanksgiving. As a Conservative, I believe this is a seminal issue for conservatives. We cannot say we are in support of preserving American traditions and family values if we support practices that unnecessarily take people away from their families on one of the few days of the year they traditionally had off to spend time with their families.

The argument that others work on Thanksgiving, our national holiday, is not a reason to diminish the value of this American holiday by making it another work day for a new group of workers. I am thankful for our public safety, health care and military personnel that make many sacrifices 24/7, 365 days a year. Their services are essential to ensure our personal well being and national safety. The retail workers being required to work in order to service those consumers eager to get a good deal on a television or laptop are not providing an essential, potentially life-saving service.

The purchases can wait until the next day. Let the workers enjoy Thanksgiving with their family and friends

Many large retail stores like Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Sears, and KMart will be the first chain retail stores to be open early for "Black Friday" shopping on Thanksgiving Day at 8 pm. Some other retail chains will stay open for Thanksgiving too for the first time.

Employees are against it, because they will not be able to spend important and traditional holiday with their family, and must show up to work (even hours before opening). More than 100,000 people have signed petition to change it, so stores keep closed all day on Thanksgiving for quality of life for the employees.

The CEO's and higher-ups who makes the decision on when to open the stores are the ones' who won't be working on Thanksgiving & Black Friday. They'll be home with their families (May probably check sales hourly so they can calculate how much bonus they will be receiving), while the people who need their minimum wage jobs are the ones' who will be missing out on Thanksgiving with their families. It's an example of how the rich are messing up with the low-income people

^ This is ridiculous and very sad how our society has been turned into. Stores are only closed for 1 - 3 days per year (used to be even on more holidays), but now they try to take away those too.

Thank God the town I live in, stores cannot be open before 7 AM (Including Black Friday) and must close at 11 PM, even though some tried to fight for keeping them open at 5 AM, or earlier for Black Friday.
This is due to Quality of Life for residents, workers, and business owners'!

ALL retail employees deserves to be OFF and get paid for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day!
Ridiculous. I've worked plenty of holidays. In fact, when the world rang in the new millenium at midnight December 31st 1999 I was sitting at my desk at work. Plus, working a holiday almost invariably gets you some sort of bonus. Yes, even the evil Walmart gives holiday pay.

Having to be on duty for the occasional holiday is part of being a responsible working adult. There are far more serious things in the world to be upset over.

Sure. Taxes are already high, and I pay more in total taxes in the US than when I lived in the UK for a year.
At least in Europe you get lots of things back for the taxes you pay, while here you don't.

If there ever was a reason for a blue law.

There is no such things as family value anymore. Money and things are more important.

Yeah - and Nunnor also calls that the New York metropolitan area.

They are some New Yorkers who would be offended over that.

I am aware of that, and I consider it to part of the NYC metro area.

But some New Yorkers don't.

They think that the western edge of the world is 9th Avenue in Manhattan.

I don't care what they think. New Yorkers love NJ because they always come here for shopping (tax free shopping), restaurants, beaches, and more.
