I've lived in Texas, not somewhere I'd willingly live again.
All a question of taste and preference... I have nothing against Seattle, but I wouldn't live there either.... I've spent a lot of time there and worked there, it's ok, but it isn't someplace I would want to stay....
Look at all the self annointed 'NY is more educated' types. Really? lol. Educated people are good with money. Why is it that Texas is in a far better fiscal condition than the wordly, virtuous, educated NY? Some people just think too highly of themselves.
I live in NYC. I'm actually pretty well set up here (good job, family, GF, housing, etc.) If any of that changed, I'd have no problem leaving. TX, Austin in particular, is on my list of potential relocation destinations. I really like the idea that they don't have state or local income tax. I'm sick of getting ripped off by NYS/NYC. I also like that they don't have the ridiculous gun control laws we have here.

Now if they'd only legalize poker....
Right now we don't have legal gaming, but we are surrounded on all sides by states that do. I know it has been proposed again in the state legislature and who knows??
hey but the mafia and NY gangs will stay though no matter what
Abbott is a bigoted azzhole. He'll say ANYTHING to get his name in the paper to prepare his eventual run for Governor of Texas. Texas doesn't need any more transplants. We're up to our eyeballs with people from other states.
You should learn what "generally speaking" means. Your story is anecdotal.
When you posted "no one" wants to move from NY to TX and I know of some, then anecdotal evidence refutes your "no one".
