LOL.. A first for ebola escaping out of Africa. A first in the US. And a page in the history books.
You bet the CDC had a flock of people fly in the minute that test came back positive from Austin.

The CDC was in Dallas on 9/30 when it was announced to the press.

No. And this entire incident is a perfect example of what happens when you have a health care system that places profit before performance. If you read the nurses' accounts it is clear that the hospital was trying to cut corners and save money on training, equipment, and service costs well before the case arrived and even after he was diagnosed. Duncan was left in with other patients because administrators resisted putting him in the isolation area, for example. The hospital had conducted no training and had inadequate protective gear, no protocol to destroy wastes, etc. You can't blame the CDC because this hospital had done nothing to prepare for Ebola and a lot of other diseases in spite of the fact that a large fraction of their patients were immigrants from affected areas.

"Currently the U.S. does not have a permanent surgeon general. President Barack Obama nominated Dr. Vivek Murthy to fill the spot last November after the previous surgeon general vacated the position.

Murthy's nomination has been tied up in the Senate since March amid concerns from conservative, gun rights group, the National Rifle Association, that the Harvard and Yale educated doctor would seek to implement restrictions on the Second Amendment if he were confirmed for the position."

Apparently, more funds are needed for protective equipment necessary for containment. But Congress is on yet another vacation, so money cannot be allotted.

Thanks To the NRA, The US Has No Surgeon General Overseeing the Ebola Threat

We do have someone who is in charge until they get a permanent one.
Where is he while all this is going on ?

Well that's creative....

Those man made islands have not been used in more than 70 years and the structures that once existed have eroded/crumbled. I think one of those islands is now a bird aviary. Is it buildable?

GITMO is interesting.

I wonder how many people it could hold in private isolation at any one time.

Where are those dang FEMA Camps when you need them.

The CDC has 20 quarantine/isolation centers in the US.
Most of them are at ports of entry.

Cause they planned to catch any contagious person at the port of entry to the US.

Who is " they"?

Seems to me it's been a foregone conclusion that Democrats are going to lose control of the Senate.

I would love to see both chambers majority controlled by Republicans.

And that can happen before the clowns figure out they should ban all people with passports from ebola countries with large outbreaks.
Indeed.

Germany is using military flights to transport aide volunteers to /from the hot zone.

I am not aware that Germany is isolating returning volunteers from the general population.

Yeah, sure. There's some sort of an upside to spreading Ebola in America?

I feel for those people that sat next to that nurse on the plane. I can't imagine the terror they must be feeling right now.

Well, you started off on a lie. We DO have a SG, and he has deferred public relations over the Ebola crisis to the CDC, at the CDC's request. He's not "missing in action"

Secondly, the reason we do not have a permanent SG is because the President we currently have is not competent enough to nominate a candidate who has the votes to get confirmed. If a candidate can't get confirmed, for whatever the reason, it's the President's job to nominate someone who can. Although the fact you'd blame the NRA is not surprising, considering your Idol Obama has not taken responsibility for anything under his administration. He's still blaming Bush for crying out loud. The Buck never seems to stop with him, does it?
