SAN ANTONIO --Officials in San Antonio were investigating video that apparently shows a school district police officer body-slamming a middle school student to the ground.
In the video, a uniformed officer is seen struggling with a girl, then slamming her to the ground. The officer appears to handcuff the girl before having her stand and leading her away.
Gloria Valdez, the 12-year-old girl's mother, told CBS affiliate KENS it was completely uncalled for.
"Supposedly he was threatened by her that she kicked him, but in the video her legs never went up," Valdez said.
Valdez's daughter did not want to go on camera but told KENS that she was having a conversation with another girl when a crowd surrounded them. She said that's when the officer put his hands on her.
"All he had to is grab her and put her to the side," Valdez said.
A spokeswoman for the San Antonio Independent School District said the officer has been placed on paid leave.
I still believe if this girl was resisting him, she deserved every bit of that slam.....
It doesn't matter what took place before. His is a child and even thuglum children can't be treated this was in a school, period! In fact if I did the same thing to my daughter, regardless of any outrageous acts, the same officer would arrest me for child abuse. He had her in a bear hug, he was moving her along, just because she wasn't moving along at a pace he would have preferred there is absolutely no excuse for his actions. None!
The over protection of kids (my sweet little Suzie/Johnny would NEVER do ANYTHING wrong) is WHY many of them act the way they do.
Hint, TEACH your kids to be respectful and things like this WON'T happen.
the full video shows he is wrong- and that is coming from other LEOS- diff state-- I asked for their opinions --and 2nd this was a brick floor? NOT all who disapprove of this --are cop haters - are you assuming that for a political agenda?- This is about 12 yr school kids .
No, you lefties need to give up that argument. If you kid attacks you or strikes you (aka kick), you can put them on the ground the same as the officer did. Ok, now move on from your claims that you would go to jail. Completely false.
This has nothing to do with being from the left or right lol im independant ... Again if a grown man can't handle a 12 year old he needs to be re-trained. It's a weak move.
Retrained to what? What is the correct technique to use here?
Over and over people have said he should have done "something else" with no clue what that something else should be.
How do you know she wasn't? The video doesn't show except for a second or two prior. Witnesses said she did. And let's stop with the drama, she was slammed "face first into pavement" or she wouldn't had lots of blood and scratches all over her face. She didn't, not a single one. She was absolutely fine. In fact, the officers take down worked, she stopped resisting him and he was able to get cuffs on her for his own safety and those around them.
Bottom line is, the officer took her down because she was resisting and fighting. He didn't beat her, he didn't shoot her, he didn't tase her, he did what he needed to do to get her under control before he or others were injured. Many of you would rather just let her do as she pleases to the officer and anyone else because any other form of discipline is not acceptable to you........ which is probably the type of attitude that made her think it was okay to treat the officer and her school administration in such a disrespectable manner.
on the news later the girl had a big bump- she passed out- and the video shows brick- need glasses?
=OvO=
how many teens come though your houses ? more recent than 50 yrs ago?
oHH never mind about 50 yrs ago---
But aren’t youth committing more serious crimes today?
NO. They are committing LESS than previous generations.
In 1975, 17.7 per 1,000 Americans ages 12 and older reported being violently victimized (including by rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault) by an offender or group of offenders under age 21.
By 2005, that proportion had fallen to 7 per 1,000.

She wasn't kicking at the officer prior to being slammed face-first on the pavement, so why is this relevant?
She does try to heel kick him once in the very first second, right before he tries the first leg sweep that misses, about 1.4 seconds before the second leg sweep that he takes her down with.
