Let the Saudis sell the T-bills. Let them throw a fit. We will recover. We always have. We are Americans; we aren't Bedouins.
Where are they going to go? Who is going to defend them after they sell the T-bills? Not us, we won't have the money to defend them. What are they going to do- work for a living? Yeah, right. If there is a political vacuum in Saudi Arabia, what's going to happen? Same thing that always happens: they will kill each other.
They're getting too uppity. Who wants to live under a Bedouin shoe? Isn't there any pride left in this country?
Pass the bill and release the darn 28 pages that the Bushes want to keep under wraps.
I completely agree! It's long past time we stop being held hostage by these turds, no doubt we can make life far more difficult for them than they can for us.
It's more than just the economic downside. If this bill is passed our people in foreign countries could be subjected to similarly defined as terrorists and their courts may not be quite as fair. I don't see this bill passing for very good reasons.
I still think that they should release the entire transcript of the 9/11 report, the American people need to know. Saudi Arabia can retaliate economically but they will also be hurting themselves.
I agree. Watching part of Charlie Rose's interview with President Obama, Obama objected to some language in the proposed bill that would open the door for other countries to pass their own laws allowing their citizens (such as in Iraq and Afghanistan) to sue the United States government. Our drones, not to mention our soldiers, have killed a lot of 'citizens' in these two named countries (countries that we are not technically at war with). It is how international politics works: reciprocity.
The New York Times
WASHINGTON — Saudi Arabia has told the Obama administration and members of Congress that it will sell off hundreds of billions of dollars worth of American assets held by the kingdom if Congress passes a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible in American courts for any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Saudi Arabia Warns of Economic Fallout if Congress Passes 9/11 Bill
Call your reps in Washington and tell them to not only pass this bill but to F-I-N-A-L-L-Y put Saudi Arabia on our list of terrorist nations like it should have been decades ago, and while they're at it, to start bulldozing all the freakin terrorist recruitment centers Saudi Arabia has built in our country, disguised as mosques!
Saudi Arabia is our worst enemy in the ME..... not Iran, it was Saudis who carried out the attacks on 9/11 not Iranians! It is the Saudis who finance all these mosques[terrorist recruiting centers] in free-non Islamist countries around the world, not Iran!
Didn't we learn from Iraq, Libya, and Syria that removing a tyrant allows extremists to take root and control of a government/region?
We need to control the spread of extremists to the west and keep them right where they are now.

Just thinking of our soldiers that could have been tried in Iraqi courts as an example. Still I think the report should be made available as it's been over a decade, Saudi Arabia can stomp it's feet but the American people deserve to know.
One good thing that came out of the bill was bipartisan support, Senators Shumer and Cornyn sponsored the bill. Nice to see far left and far right working together even on bad legislation.

IF the report really does implicate the Saudis it should have been released far earlier and appropriate action planned/taken instead of the unnecessary invasion/occupation of Iraq.
I don't care how much lip service someone pays to being your friend, if they stab you in the back they ain't no friend!
