The Saudis had been in thick with the Bushes. The bush family has a long history of corruption. Never did answer the question of why the Bin Laden family was flown out of here after the other flights were grounded. Yes, the Saudis aren't really our friends. Weren't the hijackers all Saudis? Let them eat their sand after they run out of oil.....
They were flown out for their own protection. The family has no ties to terrorism.
We've been in bed with the Saudis since the establishment of diplomatic relations and the granting of concessions allowing Standard Oil of California to explore for oil in 1933
Private companies doing business in a country and the government establishing military defense obligations are vastly different propositions.

I think someone has already noted that the Saud royal family has lots of "princelets," and it probably doesn't (or didn't) take much digging to find that some Saud family money (if not Saudi Arabia government money) found its way into the hands of the 19.

As establishing those defense obligations are vastly different than a POTUS sitting on a report that potentially implicates our alleged allies with involvement with attacks on our country.
IF the report really does implicate the Saudis it should have been released far earlier and appropriate action planned/taken instead of the unnecessary invasion/occupation of Iraq.
I don't care how much lip service someone pays to being your friend, if they stab you in the back they ain't no friend!
Well we don't know what has taken place behind the scenes, hopefully this is being addressed but I don't expect Saudi Arabia to change overnight or any other country in the ME.

The only country we can change is our own, and I'd hope that change would include identifying our real enemies and defending ourselves against them rather than a continual series of lame attempts at nation building..

Agreed and this is why we need to know the whole truth about the 9/11 attacks given all the blood, treasure and liberties we've lost as a result.
They would be living in tents and wiping their backsides bare handed if we didn't make them rich. Now they threaten us. Europe and America should just colonize the Mid East again and rule it with an iron fist.

I'm just pointing out that there is a long-standing reason why every US president travels to Saudi Arabia and kisses the king.
To some extent, I think many of you are obsessing about the Saudi "problem" alone.
Are you aware that if American citizens are given the freedom to sue foreign governments, then citizens of foreign governments will also be able to sue our government?
