The Democratic Party has become a real Motley Crew. I can't imagine how they are going to organize and come together to form any kind of believable platform.
The Democrat party is mostly made up of anarchists, aging hippies, Hollywood airheads, angry minorities, elitist academic intellectuals, many rich corrupted wall streeters and banksters, illegal immigrants, socialists, communists, welfare victims, a few racists, many intolerant bigots, and overly-tattooed millenials with boy-buns.
The Republican Party is mostly made up of hard-working, tax-paying, law-abiding, normal people with a few racists and bigots, and a few corrupted wall streeters.
Pays better.Don't need em anymore.It is very interesting how things swing. Trump the campaigner 2015/2016 had a similar message Re: immigration to what Bill Clinton / DNC 1995 was saying. My high school girlfriend, a lifelong leftist, used to rail against "America First" stuff in 1992/1993, while nowadays, ever the leftist (Bernie supporter), she is all about buying American, slagging cheap Wal-Mart Chinese crap and companies that off-shore, economic isolationism, ditching NAFTA and TPP, etc. She was very anti-globalism, anti-Hillary, but of course ended up voting for Hillary who is a Globalist and is devastated by Trump's election even though one of his many campaign promises (that won't come to pass) concerned walking away from TPP or even rescinding NAFTA.

Yes it's a mad world. I NEVER would've thought the GOP would be the populist party railing against NAFTA and globalism.
The Dems used to be very much America first in the sense of being anti-free trade, pro-fair trade, anti-globalization and such.
And why don't any liberals in here respond to when I post this stuff? Do they just not get it? I seriously think they don't get it otherwise they wouldn't be so shook up over Clinton's loss. I really honestly think all hey care about are social issues, identity politics. It was just a way to end the patriarchy.

Still, the fixation on identity politics is something I associate more with the fringe left. Most mainstream leftists I know are simply wanting to end the failed war on drugs, not get involved in every war, implement universal health care, and not let reproductive rights get chipped away.
When it comes to 'safe spaces', toilet usage, open borders, etc -- that's coming from the very vocal fringe minority.
If they are "fringe," why are these things not criticized by the liberal media? On the contrary, the mainstream Democrats and liberals support them.
After 50 years of transferring trillions of dollars from successful people to poor people poverty and crime have not gotten better. The logical explanation is the Left's strategy isn't working and needs to be ended. So the Left had to invent another cause: racism and discrimination are so rampant that no amount of money can overcome it. Because this makes no logical sense in 2016 (in past times it did prevent non Whites from gaining wealth) the only way to get people to believe it is by teaching it to young minds from age 5 to 25. You also teach them that facts can be racist so they aren't swayed by logical arguments.

Why aren't we looking at countries with lower crime & poverty rates to see what they (might) be doing right?
They aren't offshoring good jobs and importing unskilled, uneducated and impoverished immigrants to take low-paid jobs while consigning large percentages of their own citizens to welfare dependency, desperation and poverty.
And they're not shrieking that anyone who criticizes that is a "racist."
