Come, come! Making American Great Again was never going to come cheap with this ancient Golden Boy loony in charge.
You might just as well relax for now, because it's going to get infinitely worse when he actually tries to do something. At that point he will probably need a war to prove himself.
Tragically, there's no "probably" about it. It's part of Bannon's plan to "make America great again". His insane ideology includes total destruction in order to rebuild his version of an ideal society. He is an admirer of Lenin and is open about his objectives - and now he's Trump's national security advisor. Trump is dysfunctionally dependent upon receiving unquestioning praise and unending confirmation; Bannon knows this, and is operating accordingly. It is a symbiotic relationship.
This is not a poorly written futuristic dystopian sci-fi novel - it's all too real. The Russian connection which is just starting to emerge is a major part of the underlying plan.
As paranoid as this all sounds, it's real. In this fair land of liberty, the barbarians and ignoramuses are in the seat of power, and their simplistic cries to make American great again go down well with those who confuse catch phrases with wisdom and bullying with strength.
My hopes lie with Congress and the concerned Americans who have spoken out and rallied and protested peacefully, especially during the recent Town Hall meetings and other appearances on their home ground by our senators and representatives. Those who brushed off their constituents or refused to meet with them or who spoke disparagingly of them (Mitch McConnell, I'm looking at you) will continue to be confronted, and if they continue to ignore the rising dissatisfaction, they will be voted out of office and more responsive individuals will fill their places.
If war results, or if the daily increasing evidence of Russian influence reaches a tipping point in the current administration, impeachment will be a very real possibility, and those rallying in the courthouse squares and town halls of America will become more vocal and more numerous. Change will result, but at what cost?
I hope our democracy survives, and I pray that war is avoided. I try to be an optimist. I do what I can. The high price tag of Trump's weekly Mar-a-Lago jaunts is disgusting, but it is very minor compared to the very real possibility of far worse horrors ahead.
"In January, Defense Secretary James Mattis ordered a review of how to “substantially reduce the program’s costs.”
They are still negotiating. Trump negotiates all the time. That is what he is good at. Read his book, "The Art of the Deal."
One of Trump's several ghostwriters for "The Art of the Deal" was David Cay Johnston, who spent many days with Trump, taking notes and discussing what Trump wanted to include and what he wanted to say in the book.
Johnston, who had known Trump for 28 years later wrote "The Making of Donald Trump", a book I highly recommend, about not only his experience of working with Trump and also about Trump's life and the various influences which made him the man he is today.
Johnston looks into Trump's family background and history, his education and experiences in school and college, his father's original gift which gave Trump his start, how he operated with his early NYC housing construction projects, his casinos, Trump University, his relationships with his three wives and five children and extended family members (did you know Trump's sister is a judge? I did not prior to reading this book) and more.
"The Making of Donald Trump" is well-researched and is revealing about Trump's personality and character, his strengths and weaknesses. It is a fascinating and compelling book, written by one who was certainly in a position to know his subject far better than most.

You know he did not write that book, don't you?
