And the same argument plays against the GOP--
When have the GOP nominated a known Liberal jurist for their vacancies???
Obama chose a middle of the road jurist
There is not anyone but a die-hard conservative that would claim Garland is as liberal as Sotomayor
But that was the problem
Just like with the ACA
The GOP had ALREADY put the ACA into play when Romney did it in New York
So the GOP had already supported a universal health care plan---they couldn't allow the ACA to stand because it WAS too much like what Romeny had established
So they had to destroy it w/o having any reasonable plan that would provide the same coverage at affordable prices--
It went against all their rhetoric and their funding sources
Just like with Garland--
He was TOO reasonable a middle ground
There was NOTHING the GOP could "reasonably" object to and at that point they didn't want to risk going all out like the Dems have done against Kavanaugh--who has a history of being a partisan player and lying before Congressional committees--
You might not like to hear that--but it is the truth--
He did it before--
It was the reason he was held in stasis for THREE years when Bush WH nominated him for the Appellate Seat
The ABA reduced his rating from HIGHLY recommend to Recommend because of negatives OTHER jurists on the ABA review committees found in his behavior and attitude...
Google some media source besides Fox for once...
Now you can claim that Ford's story was not enough for YOU--
But this is not a court of law--
There are no legal charges against Kavanaugh or Mark Judge
This is about perception and judicial behavior
Kavanaugh did lie about his behavior as a prep and college student
HE chose to do that vs telling the truth that like many students who come from a restricted (Catholic prep school/home) he took advantage of the freedoms that college offered to test boundaries...
He changed...
Trump has certainly made that same plea every time his mysogeny and lapses of marital faithfulness are brought up...they seem to work for all his evangelistas and other supporters...
But Kavanaugh didn't take that route really
He got belligerent--he was defiant--
Because that is what Trump wanted
And Trump knows his base better than anyone
That was the right move for Trump's base
They think it will play well for the midterms for the GOP
So that TOO was a political move
It didn't play so well with people who have a real understanding of what Kavanaugh is being promoted into--
The behavior and rational discourse of the Supreme Court
