My argument was that, by definition, a "letter of intent" is an agreement to engage in good faith negotiation towards a particular goal. The point was that those claiming that the letter of intent signed by Trump is meaningless because it is an agreement to engage in good faith negotiation towards a particular goal demonstrates that they are outing themselves as rubes - or "greenhorns" if you prefer - when it comes to common business transactions. As they say, "if the shoe fits..."

There was no way Trump could tell the truth to the " I hate Russia" crowd that has been taught that since birth. Here is how I think the truth would have looked like:

"I wanted to tell the people that even though I am running for POTUS I am building a great bigly tower in Russia and to get the deal done I had to grease some palms and give Vladdy his own suite. And of course push for better U S relations with Russia and get it in the {R} party platform"

I do not think the people would have supported this and Trump and everyone knows it and the big reason behind his lie. There is just too much smoke for there not to be a fire. What it looks to me Trump was running for POTUS and trying to make a lucrative deal in Russia at the same time.

I'm laughing because real estate buyers/developers sign contracts all the time with the intent to purchase, but then drop out, penalty free. Look at the fine print. You would not believe how many chances there are to withdraw from the deal. Just a few off the top of my head...

- Property appraisal didn't meet purchase value
- Loan/mortgage interest rate exceeded contract value
- Tax assessment valuation exceeded contract amount
- Building code deficiencies

And there are many more...

Why lie repeatedly about it?

Fans here claim it was just a business deal. Why lie about it? Repeatedly.

Answer that.

was Trump dealing with the private sector in Russia or directly with the Russian government?........there are 3,000 U.S. Companies in Russia right now. Are they breaking the law or colluding with the Russian government?

Seems to me that letter from CNN dated October 28, 2015. The non-binding document is also signed by Andrey Rozov, owner of I.C. Expert Investment Co., the Russian firm that would have been responsible for developing the property.

So what's the crime here?

There are almost 3,000 American companies in Russia, and the U.S. is also the leader in terms of foreign companies in Special Economic Zones, with 11 projects.

Is Mueller investigating all of those companies for "colluding" with the Russian government? This all Russia hysteria is a big joke and historians will look back and just laugh.

I have no issue with Trump Org entering into a Letter of Intent during the campaign.

I have a problem with Trump’s choice to not disclose and lie about it, including after being elected.

There are glaring similarities between Hillary/ The Clinton Foundation and Trump And Trump Org. While there are distinct differences in the operating models of these two organizations, a not for profit public charity vs a for profit private company, both Hillary and Trump do not seem to appreciate their operations and positions are ripe for perceptions of Pay to Play.

When truth is blurred by lies and misinformation, perception becomes reality and all is lost. What people perceive is usually what they believe. People tend to believe anything when it seems to validate their perceptions.

Imagine it will be equally challenging for any prosecuter to prove either Clinton or Trump engaged/ engages in Pay to Play. It will be as challenging for either to prove they did not/ don’t.

Trump is more vulnerable because he was elected POTUS and has and will continue to have more influence than any SoS. That he began his term with Ivanka sitting in on calls and attending meetings while marketing the continued expansion of her own branded businesses is inappropriate. Having first daughter / advisor solicit a massive donation for a charity while in Saudi Arabia is inappropriate.

Seems to me neither the Clintons or Trumps get it or perhaps they don’t care. Do you?

Yes, because the economics of a suburban RE deal actually have anything to do with a tower in Russia with a suite bench-marked for Vladimir Putin. Yes, exactly the same thing.

It's not a story. It's truth.

I, myself, legally backed out of a real estate transaction when extensive termite damage was discovered.
