Did Fox News play the Wilbur Ross/Marie Antoinette moment?
The one where Ross shows how ignorant he is of what most Federal workers and others impacted by the government shutdown are going through?
He thinks that all they have to do is go down to a bank and apply for a loan to cover a month's or two or three missing pay checks and they will get it
Because the BANKS are FDIC institutions--

He is just SO dumb it is not even funny--
It is scary and sad but it is definitely par for the course for most GOP involved in supporting this specious shutdown...

Thank God, someone was stupid enough to allow Ross to go on live and make that comment because it should prove to anyone--liberal, conservative with a brain capable of reason--that the GOP has evolved to the stature of the French aristocracy like Marie Antoinette--who advised all the starving peasants to "eat cake" when told they had no bread to eat...

Holding workers salaries hostage is certainly not standing firm...it's extortion and a blatant show of the typical display of sociopathy that Trump is famous for. He stiffed workers all the time and this is more of the same but on a grand scale. Wowza Yowza...what a great businessman.

Trump's idea of 'negotiating' is stating what he wants then childishly refusing to budge until he gets his way, The sooner he's taught that's not going to work the better off the country will be. He's not a monarch and Congress is his equal in the running of the government.

You just described Pelosi’s stance. Trump is open to negotiate to get something he ran and won the presidency on. Pelosi is too afraid to do what’s right and engage in a discussion where both sides can get something they want.

That's how I see it.

A few weeks back Nancy Pants, Schummer and Trump met to talk about the issue. He asked if they were there to talk about the wall, they said no and he walked out. Of course the narrative was that he smashed his hand on the desk then stormed out but the story varies depending on the source.. of course it does.

Pelosi is doing this to spite Trump and that is it.

All she has to do is agree to fund border security and some of the money would be for sections of a barrier to be placed where the border agents tell us it is essential.

We are not talking about a 2000 mile great wall but sections that are 10- 20 miles or so to help funnel people into areas where they can be picked up.

What is wrong with that?

The shutdown is all out of spite and hatred for Trump. Nothing more.

"As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over," Trump said in a tweet Thursday.
"I am not looking for an ... alternative venue for the SOTU Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber. I look forward to giving a 'great' State of the Union Address in the near future..."

I don't care for Trump but I don't think he bowed to Pelosi. He is realizing that he won't be able to enjoy the State of the Union - -which is really just a rally for the sitting President, until the government is up and running.

Trump wanted to give the SOTU in House.
Pelosi said "not until the shutdown is over".
Trump said "OK".

He bowed to Pelosi.
Not that he had a choice. It's the Speaker of the House's choice to invite or not invite the President to speak. Trump cannot MAKE her do it.

Interesting...because the one you've mentioned has made offers to resolve this and instead of a counter offer or at least some open communication to try and come to a compromise , Pelosi just states it's a "non starter" and refused to talk.

Sorry, this is on the Democrats. The orange bad man extended an offer... that alone shows he wants to get past this.

Trump shut the government down. He was ready to sign a bill passed by BOTH the House and Senate. Then Rush and Coulter heard--got on him and he threw a tantrum.

Trump can reopen the government at any time so people would be paid. His alt-right cheerleaders won't let him. Too bad, as 60% of the country is blaming him for the shutdown. And 70% of the country doesn't think the wall is needed enough to shut down the government over it. Trump's polls have tanked 10 points in two weeks. 45 is at 34%.
