Yep, weird how there was this sudden spike in autism when women started giving birth older and older? Must be..um a big conspiracy or everybody elses fault despite science.

I was 23 when my son was born. He has autism and has had it since birth (37 years). Age has nothing to do with the rate of autism.
This baby is not the biological daughter of the woman who incubated her. Yes, that is all the grandmother was - the incubator. Any genetic defects would not be due to the age of the mother, but rather to the condition of the implanted embryo. After birth she is just the grandmother.
This child is not a child of incest like some above have alluded to. She is the niece of one and the daughter of the other. And NOT the sister of one... the incubator is not the biological mother!
The conception was really no different than thousands of other IVF. Sperm and egg were brought together from unrelated donors, then placed in the grandmother to grow.
Obviously she is past menopause and thus used a donated egg, and it was fertilized in vitro and then implanted in her uterus. But does a post-menopausal woman's body still "know" how to send nutrients via the umbilical cord? And is her body young enough to provide these nutrients? And wouldn't the stress of labor put a woman - which nature has decided is to old to withstand birth - at tremendous risk?
Not necessarily. I lived with a woman, and her mother was 69 at the time, and still had a regular period. It happens.
Agreed. But look on the bright-side, they can now blame vaccines if the child of a 61 year old gets autism.....ignoring all science about the correlation with parental age.
What a wonderful mother. That is love and commitment.
