When I was awakened by my radio alarm I heard that CNN had reported the shooter was a left wing nut job (not those exact words). I thought I was still asleep and dreaming. CNN told the truth? Have Jeff Zucker and his staff been fired?
Has hell frozen over?
I saw "Left Wing" in large letters on CNN's online homepage, I thought they may have gotten hacked at first, lol.
Odd that he offed his sister in the attack. I wonder what the story is with that. Accidentally, purposely? I'm trying to understand why he included killing her, along with everyone else.
I heard he had seemed to like his sister or at least didn't hate her, but he supposedly really hated his parents, so maybe it was one of those kill the sister to try inflict pain on the parents? It's hard to play armchair psychologist/psychiatrist with an insane individual.
Exactly, forced institutionalization is such a gross violation of natural law that you can’t utilize it en masse. I seriously doubt if it is possible to reduce by any great degree mass shootings through that method.
It’s very easy to Monday morning quarterback these incidents.
I'm a mandated reporter who provides mental health counseling to kids, teens and young adults who are at risk of becoming violent. (More violent than they already have been). I have gotten to know dozens of these young people (actually probably more than a hundred)......in some cases, I know them better than their parents or any one else in the world.
Our society made a decision back in the 1960s and 70s stop using institutionalizing of young people, even when they show signs of great danger to others. So they very rarely get institutionalized these days. As a result, we get these acts of awful violence.
It's like we want our cake and to eat it too.
The police have openly stated that they are treating the parents gingerly since they just lost both their children. Everyone is trying to give them a little space. There have been initial police interviews however.
I understand this but I'm just saying that I would like the same level of scrutiny and information. While the El Paso shooter is not dead, his family is surely grieving as well.
I feel so sorry for ANY family dealing with any aspect of this involving a loved one, a child, a parent, etc. I don't mean to sound callous. I just want the truth to be gotten to as quickly as possible.
They and every other family affected are going to be reeling from this for years.
Trump being a sociopath lacks empathy for anyone or anything. These visits to Dayton and El Paso are strictly pro forma.
It's not just Trump and his phony visit. All the clucking of tongues and flags at half staff and expressions of sorrow are meaningless crap. Let's see some action, like a solid proposal for the regulation of high rate of fire weapons. Of course we won't because Trump and his cronies are in the pocket of the NRA and the firearms manufacturers they support.

Likely, no one will ever know.
I have yet to come across anything about his family/ home life.
Endless contradictory reports from former classmates and childhood friends including one who was close friends with him since elementary school who believed he was a nice kid. Some viewed him as a bully while other perceive he was bullied. The kill list on a bathroom wall was reportedly made after a bullying incident.
Unlike most sensational mass shooters, the Dayton guy had been socially active.

What action have we seen since these mass shootings began, 50 years ago? From which presidents?
You know, for the record, I was appalled when Trump announced his presidency, and when he won. But my gosh, let's be fair (I know, what a crazy idea THAT is). He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
I could google photos or videos of Obama and the Bushes and every other President for the past fifty years standing solemnly, making sad proclamations, offering sympathy and thoughts and prayers and ordering flags flown at half mast - would it all be meaningless crap? I mean, because I haven't seen ANY president able to enact any meaningful solutions to the issue of mass shooters, which have taken place during many different administrations under both parties.
There are plenty of examples but posting them would be a waste of time with Trump supporters.
So its all Trump and his supporters fault for the shooting in Dayton?

On social media, the suspect’s biography started to emerge. On his Twitter page, reviewed by Heavy, he described himself as “he/him / anime fan / metalhead / leftist / i’m going to hell and i’m not coming back.” He wrote on Twitter that he would happily vote for Democrat Elizabeth Warren, praised Satan, was upset about the 2016 presidential election results, and added, “I want socialism, and i’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.” The Greene County Board of Elections lists his party as “Dem.”

Could be what you say. Or perhaps since he liked her, he knew he wasn't going to make this out alive and wanted to bring her with him. Who knows. Maybe "why" will be discovered during the investigation.
