Marriage evolved from rights to sexual access to a female. It is beleived to be older than written history is. It is also theorized that modern humans were not the only ones to practice it.
Well - IMO, when talking about Gay Marriage, there is no way to NOT bring religion into it - it is part of the "Controversy" IMO -
The issue of not allowing Gay Marriage is based, in part, in religious beliefs
But this country was not founded on any religion or The Bible and its laws are not, and should not be based on religion beliefs, either. What The Bible says about gays or anything else is about as relevant to what is legal in this country as Dr Seuss.
I just wish they would start using the word civil union. Marriage is a religious based thing. If a religion wants to "marry" 2 people, then that is between the people and the religion, I do not see what business the gov has in it.
As far as the civil union side of it, I think the gov should be out of the marriage business all together, treat everyone as their own person.
As far as the simplier argument, I do not like gays nor care to be around them, but I beleive in individual freedom, so they should get to do whatever they want.
And as far as religion goes, please stay out of the gov.
Well I asked that this not turn into bible study but apparently it didn't really sink in. Since this is less about people in California being ok with gay marriage, I think it is time to close this thread for a while until I sort out this train wreck.
