i do not know anyone nor have i known anyone who chose to be poor.
what the did was go on top of a hill and yell to the top of their lungs i want _____________
& i will do anything to get it. the wrong entity heard them.
Wonderful ideas. I'd love to see them implemented. It could be a real beginning for ending much of poverty. Many of those who end up in poverty are not "bad" or "lazy" or anything else negative. They are just people who made poor choices when they were too young to understand the consequences.
what poor choices do you mean? Not going to college? Not everyone can afford or wants to go to college. Not get a good job? Not many jobs without a college degree pay well. You have to clear up bad choices because working hard at a job and contributing to society is not a bad choice.
I have always wondered this myself. we all know that poverty is a choice, so why do so many chose to live in it? with all the government grants, educational opportunities, and other government programs out there, why do so many choose to do so little? show me a poor person, and I will show you a reason. unless you are physically or mentally disabled, there is no excuse for being poor.

If you read my first response to this thread you would see that I don't equate making a lot of money to being rich. That may sound strange when I say it out of context but if you go back to the first message from me on this thread you will see what I mean.
What I meant by "bad choices when they are young" was more along the line of involvement with drugs or alcohol, having a baby too young, committing a crime, etc. The person who made those choices when too young may have "cleaned up their act", gotten clean and sober, be doing a good job raising their child, be living a crime free life, etc.....but they still have a tough time making it because of those choices. They aren't being lazy or shiftless, they are just having to jump more hurdles than those who didn't make those choices. That is all I meant.
