Yep ... Just go to the courts and overrule the votes of over 50% of Californians.

Unable to support their positions with anything logical/factual they resort to:

Could not agree more with you here!

Most of them just retort to me not having morals and being Godless and selfish.

Hey - I'm the one who's challenging you liberals to star taxing EVERY non-profit entity. Go ahead.

Do what you want to do.

But don't come back crying about it when disastrous results rain down on you.

And don't be surprised when you find out that churches really aren't affected in any way.

Hey - tax the churches!

Tax EVERY non-profit entity!

But be forewarned - your college tuition is going to go up about 40%. Are you ready for that? Are you so hell-bent on thinking you can destroy churches that you're ready to destroy yourself?

Go ahead and tax all non-profits, including churches! Churches will be THE LEAST AFFECTED of them all. And if you cannot figure out why, you need a lot more education, experience and wisdom before you keeping demanding it!

Anyone who says something like this clearly doesn't understand the principles this nation was founded on. The reason why we have a legislative branch is to protect the minority from the majority. It allows for change to occur because in many cases, people are reluctant to change without the court making the first move. Look at the history of slavery and civil rights, without the supreme court, there'd still be segregation (and probably slavery again) in the south. While it's true that churches do good things for the community, they also do some awful things too. They brainwash idiots into believing that fairy tales are true, they try to force their beliefs on people who have no desire to live like them and they are incredibly ego-centric. You don't have to be a church person to do good, despite what you may think.

Umm, colleges do not actively campaign in politics. Their students do, but that's a right granted to people by the Bill of Rights. Every school (except for Bob Jones university) has both a GOP and a Democratic club on campus, even the most hippie/liberal ones like the University of Oregon. Stanford University didn't actively campaign for Prop 8, but the Mormon Church did.

I think I read, not too long ago, that 85% of American churches have less than 100 people in attendance, and about half those churches have less than 50 in attendance.

Just how much money do these silly church-haters think these churches are pulling in? And how much tax money do they think the public coffers will garner?

Not too far from my office, there's a church that closed. A really really nice building, that has been on the market for about $100,000. They absolutely cannot sell the thing, even though it has a small gym in it. How much property tax do these church-haters think they're going to suck out of "churches" whose property isn't even worth anywhere near $100,000?

It's silly, plain and simple. And that's why I'd be MORE THAN HAPPY to see the government tax ALL non-profit entities. ALL of them! There will be a lot of revenue coming in, but very little of it will be from churches. And the public outcry will be so overwhelming that whatever politicians were stupid enough to enact the legislation will be run out of office.

Silly people...

Would you both be as equally understanding if someone had painted Swasticas or wrote "Burn in Hell" on, say, a university GLBT center after the CASC had legalized Gay Marriage?
Did these vandals write "Burn in Hell" or something equally as offensive? Not as far as I remember, so that isn't a valid comparison... if somebody had written "Say YES to Prop 8" on a GLBT center, then yes I would be just as understanding.
