Palin wasn't conservative. Look at her spending (and tax increases) as mayor of Wasilla...and I believe as governor of Alaska.

Also look at how great of a job she did at preventing premarital sex (something you think "true conservatives" should focus on...this is where we disagree) IN HER OWN HOME.

The failure is dramatic, isn't it?

Maybe she doesn't really believe in abstinence outside of marriage. I think a good parent understands that "just say no" rarely works, and that it's better to provide a safe environment for kids to experiment. If I had a kid who insisted on having sex, I'd much rather him or her doing it in my own home than sneaking around and lying to me about it.

But yet it is true!

Socialists infiltrate our schools and brainwash our children.
Is that so? Then how come I--a teacher--have never come across a socialist teacher? I've met some Democrats, a few Republicans, but no socialists.

And do you have proof that any socialist teachers have an agenda to brainwash kids? Because again--I haven't found any. In fact, I was reading about the 80s in one of our textbooks and they actually made Reagan and Supply Side economics look good!

So before you defame teachers with a broad brush, and call us manipulative liars (because that's what brainwashers are) you might want to actually talk to some, instead of listening to people like Rush Limbaugh who despised school and formal education in the first place.

Exactly WHO is saying the GOP must shed its far right base? It can't be Democrats or liberals, they are thrilled with the GOP presenting the fact it's currently showing. The GOP doesn't seem to have caught on that the fear mongering, race baiting, "divide and conquer" methods of Rove no longer work.

We wish the Rs would run more commercials denouncing Dems as "not real Americans", buddy up more with radio hosts who denounce Mexican Americans as "lazy, ignorant trash" and continue to demean Blacks. Working and middle class Whites have discovered that cutting the taxes for the rich didn't work out so well for them anyway. And that the "dark skins" that they've been taught to fear turn out to be "regular Joes" just like them who worry about feeding, educating and providing health care for their kids.

I say keep it up Rs. Have a weekly press conference with Mitch McConnell, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Bachmann and Virginia Foxx. Heck, make it a telethon (money to be used only to pay for next week's show) and I guarantee that Dems will mail their dollars in.

Well then you should choose a side. The side shouldnt come to you.
Nope. Democracy (or Democratic Republicanism) is a political marketplace where the party has to convince the voter to vote for them. I have some liberal views and some conservative views, but above all I want someone who won't run the country into the ground. That's a pragmatic centrist approach, and no party can win without the swing votes. There aren't enough liberals and there aren't enough conservatives. Obama was the more articulate spokesman this year and so he won. Thirty years ago, Reagan was more articulate, and he won.

For the record, I voted for neither.

The pendulum will probably swing back in time. Remember it was only a few years ago that Republicans were laughing at Democrats and talking about a "permanent Republican majority". I guess "permanent" really meant "about five years".

So have you seen them brainwashing now? Have you seen their communist, godless lesson plans? Have you watched them in front of students extolling Marx? Because I'll tell you this: I subbed for two years in several different schools for several different teachers in my blue state. And not once did I see an attempt to manipulate children. They're about things like The French Revolution or Chemistry reactions. That's because most teachers care about educating children to think for themselves, not indoctrinating them toward a point of view. And assume that teachers spend their days manipulating and brainwashing children is the most insulting thing you can say to a teacher.

Perhaps I should ask why conservatives and GOP'ers do nothing but bitc...er...complain about teachers and public ed. But that's another thread.
