The Chargers were in the market for an offensive-minded leader and McCoy fits the bill. San Diego knows him well, having faced Denver eight times during McCoy's four-year tenure with the Broncos.
...
The Arizona Cardinals also pursued McCoy, but the presence of veteran quarterback Philip Rivers in San Diego was likely an attractive piece of bait in the decision-making process.
Am giving 100% credit for the San Diego Chargers on their win last night. When you think of the Chargers offense, the first two names that come to mind is quarterback Philip Rivers and tight end Antonio Gates. Not last night though and here's why>>>177 yards rushing in last night's game. Rivers 166 yards passing did include some big throws to keep drives alive though.
San Diego had lost their fair share of players through free agency and on the offensive line they lost Louis Vasquez, who Denver signed. And they had been banged up a bit with injuries. Though the NFL has really changed over the years with the passing game, there still is such a thing as games that were won in the trenches. Like this one.
And Denver's rushing total? 18. That's where I give credit to the Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano. He came up with the answers, for sure.
This kid has a long and bright future ahead of him.
