Its not creepy... but sexual legal depends on the state.
The reason why the age of consent is often 18 is that plenty of lawmakers and other people think it's creepy.

I do not have kids. What is your main concern about a 17 year old dating an older boy/college student? High school boys want sex too.

My opinion is the majority of people in these demographics would find this creepy, myself and my teenage kids included.
I disagree. I was a 17-year-old once. 2 years older is nothing, if he's a good guy. The OP sounds like he genuinely cares for her, and they were good friends in HS as well, so there's nothing creepy about it, because they were already hanging out together (presumably) when they were both in the same school. It's not like he's a college guy doing some fishing in the HS pool to see what he can come up with. They were already friends.

As mentioned, a two year age gap (male older than female) is quite common, in fact the most common gap.

If you are male, how much older are you than your spouse? Younger if female?

I don't have kids either, but a college freshman dating a high school senior (which could account for the age difference) is not unheard of or even predatory.

And yet, the age of consent in most states is 16. Furthermore, some kids are already in college at 17. This 17/18 borderline is somewhat arbitrary.

Well then why are you asking? Why did this idea even come to mind?

I don't think "creepy" was the deciding factor. It isn't a legal term btw.

It was the age at which law makers believe that they are an adult and capable of making their own decisions. This is also the reason why some states have worked age gaps into the mix... which is the case here. It is also not a coincidence that the many states defined 18 as legal adult.

To be accurate, dating at any age is not illegal. It is sexual intercourse/etc that is defined by the lawmarkers.

Are you asking if it's creepy because in some states the legal age (mainly for sex) is 18? I really don't see a problem with this age thing. As long as you're respectable, know how to 'wrap it up' and her parents don't mind you then everything should be alright. However, high school and college are two different worlds, and you're going to constantly meet new people. You might find another interesting girl, but you do what's right for you.

Would you be concerned if she was a junior dating a senior in high school?
