No it is called caring about your partner - some people do
There's caring and then there's this....
When I had my wisdom pulled out my ol man waited. He had to.
When I have a general cleaning I don't even mention the fact that I'm going...
Well, I wouldn't have gone to ER for strep throat personally unless it was after hours for Urgent Care or my physician. During the day I would have driven myself to Urgent Care, and not expected my husband to waste his time sitting there being bored to tears with me. If it was a true emergency then yes, you should have stayed, and it sounds like you did anyway, so you're ok IMO.
Is it being a jerk of a husband if you drop your wife off at the emergency room instead of going in with her if it's a non life threatening illness?
Keep in mind the I have taken my wife to the ER 3 other times in the past for non life threatening illness.
For those of you who have never been to the ER for non life threatening illness, its at least a 4 hour trip.
I would not say it is a jerk, but I would not d it and if my husband (ex) had done it I would have been hurt. You never know what is going to happen and any time someone has to go to the ER, they would be remiss if they were not a bit afraid. It is just nice to have someone there with you. Just do whatever you can to make it up to her. Hoepfully in time she will forgive you. I am sure she will.

What - so you just drop her off to wait out the 4 hours by herself? How boring for her! I could see the drop off scenario if you have an appointment to be somewhere else, but you couldn't be bothered to wait with her? Yeah, I'd probably be a little miffed if it were me.

I think you should have stayed with her because it's a 4 hour trip, to keep her company. I went with my boyfriend last New Year's Eve, and granted it wasn't how we'd expected to spend it, but at least it was better than him waiting there on his own with nobody to talk to and me being at home - I could hold his hand, talk to him, try to keep his mind off it. I go to appointments by myself, but the nature of emergency stuff is different, people tend to be worried or scared.
If your going to the emergency room, then she's really sick, or hurt. Im guessing your not going there because she has the sniffles. For you to just leave her there was probably very hurtful to her. Despite how "mild" the emergency was, you went to the ER. If you left her side, you owe her flowers, and don't suggest doing it again..remember: In sickness and in health-- 4 hour wait and all!
