Great!

But if it's what the OP can afford, then it is. And it's what many people can afford. There are people who don't make much money but want to date. It's an option. So no, it's not beside the point. If you CAN'T AFFORD something (like the OP can't), don't wave it in front of someone's face, then get upset that the person says "great, thanks, I'll take that." If one can afford Applebee's, one can afford Applebee's. If that's all the person can afford, then this fact is going to come out anyway eventually; what then?

If this girl is worth her mettle, she'll be glad for the Applebee's because who CARES really about the specific food (just like she apparently wasn't stalking the OP's food order choice to be sure her pricing was parallel), she's getting to know him as a person. That's the point, really.

Was this a valentines day dinner? THis is the 15th, was this date the 14th? If so, that's hardly a date to be nitpicking on such crud. It's a special occasion dinner.

As birdiebelle said, ordering the most expensive thing on the menu on a first date is just rude. It’s realky that simple

I would have said yes, but I'm a New Englander and this made my butter go bad.
