I think you are making too much of it. A date on Velentine's Day has greater expectations that any other day, first dinner date or not. As others have said, a less expensive restaurant might have been better, but you asked her out, so she would not be expected to pay. If she agrees to go out with you again, try something like a brew pub where the most expensive item is in the $20s.
This was right after I had ordered an $18 Halibut..So yeah. I didn't say anything to her as I wanted to be polite, but ouch that's a punch to my wallet.
Tonight was our first dinner together and she didn't offer to help pay the bill either. To be fair she did offer me a piece, and also it is Valentines and I am the one who asked her out. She was excited about going out too..
I'm torn on why the sticker shock is bugging me, I keep thinking about it. I feel like the date was fun and she is incredible in a lot of ways and I find her attractive.. but I'm kinda feeling put off a bit too about it...
I paid for the bill. My concern isn't that I paid. I'm glad to do something nice for her.
My concern is I feel she wasn't considerate at all, and it is weighing on my mind. I'm sorting out my feelings right now. I find her attractive in many ways, but that was a big turn off :/
Not sure if you're coming back to this forum, "One Thread Wonder" but,
1: you invited her out
2: You chose restaraunt
3: It was Valentine's day meal
I go out, dinners at Pappadeaux, Morgan's, and Charter House, cost between $100 and $200 and that's no drinks.
So, consider your choices in the future.
I dated a girl like this once. First date I took her to Flemings which is a decent restaurant out here. She's banging down $ 18 Bombay Sapphire martinis (like she could really taste the difference), ordered a few appetizers, then a nice meal. My eyes were rolling like the OP's. Then I got to know her better and found that she blew her own money the same way, it was just the way she was. But at least I got laid, so meh.
I just got a notice that Red Lobster has their Seafood Fest going on.
Most certainly not the best or most expensive place and I'm not going there, but just the idea has made me drool.
If somebody took me there I would want it regardless of the price or even quality.
You want me to order cheap? Take me to Burger King.(Or, LOL, Red Lobster)
I'll order it and hope it's good and you won't be out of pocket so much

Flemings is a decent place (if we're talking the steakhouse), why do a first date at a place like that? I just don't get it. To me, first dates are to see if there is any chemistry.

But darlin', we still don't know it was a first date..........and may never what with a first time( and last time?) poster.
