I have a road warrior job these days where I'm often traveling 3+ days per week. My girlfriend sends me iMessage photos of my cat all the time. Scrolling back in the iMessage thread, easily 2/3 of the photos and video clips are of the cat. My iPhone is stuffed full of cat photos, too.
I don't know about asking someone out on a date for the first time via text message. That's really poor etiquette. I'd expect to get flushed 90% of the time on general principle.
Oh I know a lot of people who post this stuff. I remember a post from a former colleague where he even tagged the woman he was divorcing in his divorce announcement post.
It is sort of amusing to see how many people I am not close to who pist this stuff (my facebook friend universe is full of acqauintances).
It is oretty common. Many of my married friends or people in long term relationships will update their facebook to say married to or in a relationship with. So it is no surprise at all.
They're posting it at that time, though, right? So the OP would have to have been watching this woman's FB whenever that was going on, even if it were years ago....? I think people are saying it's not like you can look at just the person's profile and see a list of former husbands, LOL. And if you wanted the scoop on, say, whether the person had dated someone seriously enough to mention him on facebook you might be scrolling back weeks or months through the person's page. That would be a little creepy.
Or if you wanted to see if the person had posted pics of herself with a date, you'd have to be scouring her photos...again...I don't know. What would prompt that...you know? That's...I don't want to say "stalkerish" because the word is used so much but really, to get enough data that a person couldn't have possibly dated in, say, six months you'd have to be digging all over that person's stuff. That doesn't sound too healthy, TBH.
I have a good friend who has 7 cats in her house. She has long hair, vegetarian and is a teacher.
She has been married for 25 years and you'll see nothing about that on facebook. So what does that make her? Half crazy? Or is her husband then weird, too?
Yeah, see, it's the not-married in her 30s part that apparently is the key factor in this long-distance mental illness DX. Just having cats isn't really the issue, apparently. Meanwhile, the person who posted is in his 30s and not married...LOL... But I guess he doesn't have cats?
I wonder what being not married, in one's 30s and owning...say, dogs would mean? Slight mental illness? How about with tarantulas? No official DX but sorry I can't make it over to your house for dinner, shudder?
Unmarried, in your 30s and no pets, though, is mentally healthy, unless the person who posted this assertion is agreeing that he's kinda neurotic and half-baked, too. In other words, having NO other living things in your house is the key determining factor in the mental health of singles. If you don't want to communicate with other living creatures within your household daily then you're probably pretty much okay.

This could all get pretty complex.
So what if she was married and got divorced or is a widow, is that more mentally healthy?
What if she starts dating someone - does her craziness go away? Or does her "condition" stay until the cats die or she marries (again)?
Yes, what about dogs? I am guessing she cannot have a little dog that she dresses when it is cold outside, because that would be crazy, too.
Is she more mentally healthy if she lives with her parents?

I know single guy in his 30s who talks to his dog like it's his wife. Hell scream: "you b****" when she tries to run away. He's always talking to her. He must be pretty mentally healthy though, he's a guy, not married and has a hunting dog.

Never Mind, DistinguishedGentleman just solved this for us. Bottom line is, she's a woman. If she were a man this stuff wouldn't count.
Solved! And so simple. (And I do mean that. In so very many ways.)
