But on some, he would fly down in his Piper and I would drive his Porsche down so he'd have it for the weekend.

Care to guess which weekends I got the flirty looks, beeping and waves from the carloads of girls going to the shore? It was so ridiculous that we used to laugh about it. I called his car "The German aphrodisiac".
When I rent a car, people comment!

The nicest cars are old ones that you bought as a basket case ( a pile of junk) and completely rebuilt it to like new or better than new condition. It gives you great pleasure and a sense of pride to turn a turd into a diamond!LOL...........

We humans are so judgmental and shallow. If it isn't a person's car it's their house or their clothes.

If you must judge another person judge their character, how they treat others, how kind they are to animals and children.

What you own or don't own is not a reflection of your worth as a person.
Agreed, although I will say that I do look at how a person treats their possessions.

As a potential iindicator only. Further investigation is always required.

Probably lawyers driving them. They boast about their long hours but need to take an hour (or more likely 2) off at 4:30 to perform this useful service.
Aren't you quick to generalize?

Dating a guy for his car is a stupid idea. Am I going to be having a conversation with his car? Kissing it? Spending time with it?

You wouldn't date a girl just because she's pretty (well, some people would), but it sure doesn't hurt, right? Same theory here. A nice car doesn't guarantee $hit, but it's not going to work against the guy either.

I find it incredulous how some people can't correlate a good guy and a hot car. So quick to point a finger and assume assume assume. It's just a damn car!! Admit it. This whole argument goes straight back to money which goes straight back to calling women golddiggers! The cycle lives on!

And about your comment on how women don't like frugal men, here's probably why: Cheapskates are also often complainers. They complain about how much this or that is and how much they would rather do this than that because it's cheaper and so on and so forth forever. Guess what? Constant complaining is negative and easily becomes annoying. In addition, the cheapskates - ironically enough - do let money rule their thoughts, although they do protest. Furthermore, being a cheapskate is a passive-aggressive form of being greedy. You're essentially hoarding money. Ebenezer Scrooge comes to mind. Money is money and when you die, it ultimately becomes nothing! (Note: There is a difference between being a cheapskate and being thrifty or wise with money.)

Finally, what's with all the bitterness tossed at people who like nice cars or better yet, those who can afford them? When someone earns money, he/she has the right to choose how to spend it. There's nothing wrong with being successful.

Don't forget peeps some of the biggest junkers burn rubber with the best of them. Like demolition derby cars with modded engines. I have built a few in my day and remained head pit crew mechanic while my friends drive them. We have even received some trophies. And best of all when it is all KO'd afterward, you just leave the demolished hulk in the field with the keys and the title for the wrecker to haul off! Rugged

You've just described American women.

Oh bull****!

If a person was to take as gospel half the crap that gets said around here I'm thinking American men would be considered the biggest whingers on the planet EVEN bigger whingers than Aussie Blokes.

It's a damn good thing that most of us are able to get through life without making sweeping generalizations about others. It's also REALLY great when people actually read the whole thread and discover that not only is the initial research of dubious origins but most of the women that have posted have indicated that it's incorrect.

I think I need the tiny violins in here too.

Bear in mind that, although I'm being a little sarcastic, and only poking gentle fun at you, this is the perception of a lot of men and women out there.
Where do you think stereotypes come from ?

BTW, what's the difference between a 'Vette and a porcupine ?

On a porcupine, the pricks are on the outside !

J/K
Got a few friends with Vettes, they always take some stick off us Ford guys !
ok, fair enough.
For the record though....I'm a mustang guy, I just happen to make exceptions....all the vette guys are old enough to be my dad and at a different place in life.

Nice try, but I'm describing shallow people - anyone attracted to someone solely based on their looks, financial status, clothes or car without regard to their personality and values.

Having said that, wanting or liking these things does not necessarily make you shallow. I readily admit to liking them but I didn't marry for them.
