I think our purpose in life is to bring praise to our creator and fill the earth as he originally intended. But we also owe it to him to show him love by abiding by his standards.
Well, I think that we've definitely "filled the earth".
I've noticed we've got about half christians, half atheists here. So what exactly do you think the point in life is, and what do you think the individual should try to accomplish before they die?
Simple answer..The point in life is to do everything you can to gain everlasting life
I can't help but wonder, does this mean that folks who don't have their salvation "clinched", don't help others, and don't do good works? That until Jesus is in their hearts, they will find it hard to do good works? I suspect there would be alot of non-believers who would be rather surprised by that statement.
No, I didn't say that or even insinuate that at all
All kinds of people do all kinds of good works! Geesh, even Bill Gates donates LOTS of money to charities. I in no way meant that only Christians do good works and no one else does...but good works alone do not get you into Heaven
Enjoy your life...it's the only shot you have! be a good person and live life to the fullest...be a caring friend, son, daughter, sister, brother, parent and individual...be true to oneself and have fun!

Sorry to go off topic, but this had to be said!
I appreciate your words, but you really don't know why I feel the way I do.
Yes, I very much consider myself to be worthless. There is nothing in my life to make me feel like I could be of any use to anyone, or make any kind of difference. I'm not good at anything, and virtually everyone in my life is negatively influenced by me in some way or another. I'm made to feel like I'm wrong about everything, and that I don't know how to do anything right.
As for God having a plan for everyone, I don't know that I really believe that. Where does it specifically state that in the Bible?

Well, I don't know anything else about you, but I can tell from your posts on the evolution/creation thread that you are intelligent and articulate. Hmmm...an intelligent, articulate Christian. Could God use someone like that?
I think so!!! (I don't know what's going on in your life right now, WC, but I do know that probably all of us have times in our lives when we feel like we've failed at everything. As Kawg said, it's a lie.)

I've felt this way before. Not long-term, but I have felt this way. If people in your life are making you feel like you're wrong, then perhaps it's time to look for some new people to populate your life. Or do some volunteering, or go back to school to pick up some new skills in an area where you *can* do something proactively!
Good luck, friend. Sometimes this life can be a little daunting.
