Was it San Antonio Savings Association--actually a savings and loan from back in the late 80's? SASA, I think we called it?

We had a SASA years and years ago at Culebra/Tezel/Grissom. I think it was a SASA anyway--I do know for a fact it was an S&L with San Antonio in the name. It's since been torn down and they put up a CVS in its place.

SASA had their headquarters at San Pedro and 410, the building is still there. But yeah SASA was all over SA in the 70's and 80's then went belly up.
Back to the question about the old Mama's on San Pedro, I remember eating at Bulpeppers and think about the many times i ate at Mama's. I also remember on San Pedro at Rector there used to be a Godfathers Pizza, and across the street was one of the first IHOP'S that I can remember. There is now a Pollo Loco there.

Ah, you speak of the "La/Le" shopping center. Home of La Feria and Le Bare...that caused quite a bit of Highly Hay when it opened back in the day.
Joe Anthony "The Godfather", of KISS radio fame was owner of Godfathers Pizza. I heard many up and coming rock acts ate there when they were in town, because it was a sort of club house for the KISS radio DJs. I believe AC/DC was one of these unknown bands.

I remember both of those stores, and of course Central Park Mall next door.

I checked in my 1984 Kriss Kross directory and the banks at those locations are listed as United Savings Association of Texas.
It also lists locations at 240 E. Houston Street and 11803 Blanco.
