Ajax lost 0-3 against Real Madrid, but had two perfectly valuable goals disallowed. In case of Ajax losing, Lyon had to make at least 7 goals against Dynamo Zagreb to take the second place. Lyon then won 1-7 against Zagreb, scoring six goals in the second half. I can't help finding this a tad suspicious... (and apparently so do the French authorities, who have started an investigation concerning this game).

Yep, was just reading about the investigation. Thing is, it's not UEFA..they're just probably going to ignore it..

French online gaming authority to investigate Lyon win - ESPN Soccernet

I find the whole thing REAL suspicious.

So suspicious. To score goals with such an ease (Lyon) and to disallow two goals (Ajax) when Lyon needed goal difference to beat Ajax...hmmm.
Platini is French, right?

C'mon people, you think the ref at the Ajax game, Dinamo Zagreb and Lyon were all in on a scam? Good story, but doubt it!

Forget about the ref. Zagreb didn't even seem to be trying. In all, Lyon, a side that had tallied only 2 goals total in all of their CL matches, scored 7 goals in just over 28 minutes. Go and watch the goals, none of them are even challenged..

And Zagreb, despite the fact that they lead their domestic league, suddenly fired their manager yesterday a few hours after the game..

And then you've got the wink..

The ref at Ajax game is less suspicious of all, but Paul, did you watch Dinamo - Lyon game or highlights of the game only?

Have you heard of Zdravko Mamic, Dinamo Zagreb president? Google it and you'll find some rather interesting news about him, the latest one being that by court order in Zagreb he took over Eduardo's (remember him from Arsenal?) house and cars there. Mamic was the main man behind his transfer from Dinamo to Arsenal (and behind Modric's transfer to Spurs as well) and he somehow inserted a clause (which Eduardo has signed) which entitles Mamic to a large% of whatever Eduardo is earning in his future clubs. Eduardo refuses to pay him recently (probably finally realizing he was scammed) but Mamic sued and won.

A little info from a leading Craotian paper:
Eduardo still Mamic's slave – Nacional.hr

And oh yeah have you heard about Dinamo Zagreb coach Krunoslav Jurcic? Probably not. But read this:

Timisoara-Dinamo 0-3 2009.
Dinamo-Timisoara 1-2 2009.
-both games under uefa investigation.
Coach: Krunoslav Jurcic

Croatian Cup Final 2009.
Dinamo-Hajduk 3-0
Hajduk-Dinamo 3-0 (dinamo won after pk)
-both games under uefa and croatian football association investigation.
Coach: Krunoslav Jurcic

Yesterday:
Dinamo-Lyon 1-7. Only result that leads Lyon through. Investigation underway.
Coach: Krunoslav Jurcic

Here is a little info from a leading Croatian paper:
Dinamo's European matches also under investigation – Nacional.hr

So, don't get me wrong, they are still innocent until proven guilty, but aren't there too many similiarities involving the same people over and over again?

And Tuesday's CL game between Dortmund and Marseille was rather interesting one don't you think? Again french club involved. Tasty.

Was great to see Man City get knocked out after spending all that money and Man Utd crash out too. The only thing that would have made this week better would have been Chelsea crumbling.

We will wait and see, do you think they would have the audacity to cheat in the champions league though? And a team of Lyons stature? I can't see it, but you never know I guess.

Maybe Lyon didn't cheat, they just used the opportunity of Dinamo Zagreb refusing to play competitive football for some reason ?

Okay, this makes it going from a tad suspicious to quite suspicious... I didn't even know about the fishy history of Dinamo Zagreb until reading the above.

Not saying Lyon was in it - and certainly not the refs at Ajax vs Real (those were just lousy calls from a lousy linesman), but the Zagreb part really reeks of corruption. The thing is: how can you prove these things?
