Of course he was. He was a huge risk that still hasn't paid off. These sort of risks are taken all the time in football and RVP is another one. It can be a bigger risk then AC because more money will be spent on RVP then Carroll.
Still hasn't paid off...haha, it will never pay off.
He is just a waste...
John you are being silly now. You aren't gonna convince anyone that van Persie isn't a world class player. He isn't really a risk. He is proven at banging in goals a) in the EPL b) in the champions league c) internationally and d) against good opposition. You are getting excited about a unproven player from Morroco, but one of THE deadliest strikers on earth isn't up to your standards. He is better than Gomez, Benzema etc. He will bang in a s*** load of goals in a better team like United.

No I am not. He is a very good player and a proven goal scorer but he is also injury prone. Of course he is a risk for the money being splashed about. If you say he is not a risk, then Carroll was not a risk seeing that there is more money involved with RVP then there is with Carroll.
People have these sort of seasons all the time. The question is can they can do it again. Dont get me wrong, he is a really good player but to say he is not a risk is stupid when you look at the money being splashed about.
He scores once every two games nearly, no just last season but over all his career.
Then he gets injuried for 3 months after that and he has been doing that most of his career. As I said, one good season doesn't make him the best striker in the world. £70 million is a lot to pay for RVP, especially if you are basing it on last season.
You are over stating his injury prone-ness. Most players get injured. And he wasn't 70million. He is world class and if I was a Man United fan I would be happy with the ambition the club is showing with their signings.
