That kid Messi is insanely skilled. Probably the best ever in terms of raw skill the soccer world has ever seen(save Pele and Maradona)

The problem with soccer in the US is- poor coaching(leading to not as skilled players as the rest of the world) and the best athletes dont play soccer- they're playing football and basketball.

Skill and athleticism are different. Pro baseball players are insanely skilled- hitting a pro pitcher is probably the toughest skill in all of pro sports, but I certainly dont view them as the best athletes.

Now, soccer players are great athletes, but I you cant compare them to guys in the NFL/NBA. they are just genetic freaks. A guy like Lebron James and Adrian Peterson are in the top .00001% of athletes. I cant really say the same about the soccer guys.

I think if a freak athlete like Nate Robinson or Reggie Bush were put on a soccer field vs a guy like Messi or Fernando Torres on a basketball court or a football field....I'd bet the NBA/NFL player would be more successful just because they are the better athlete.

JMO.

Looking at it from today, I say it might have to do with two things; team names and the lack of points each game gets.

I can neither do one of two things with this thread:

1. Move it to the soccer sub forum.

2. Lock it.

This thread started before administration approved a soccer sub-forum. A "sticky" was made in the soccer sub-forum that addresses the very issue that this thread has problems with. After deleting several posts off this page alone I'm not going to invest any more time here to keep this thread open.

In other words-locked.
