The very best thing would be for Texas to be neither blue nor red, but for the citizens of Texas to actually think for themselves rather than simply turning their brains over to one party or the other, as it seems too often happens, based on what I see posted online by those on both sides who seem to have no life but politics, and who think of that as something resembling a football game where the team is more important than anything else, especially the good of the country as a whole. Especially when, when you get right down to rock bottom motivations, there is NO difference between the two parties, just a lot of blue or red window dressing to try to disguise that motivation.
I agree 100% with the horselady this week

Certainly you are in the minority by far as I can't see folks voting for him if they were embarrassed by him. Either that or there are some weak-azzed Dims in Texas that were even more embarrassing . Yeah, probably the latter.

Granted the GOP vetting process weeded him out rather quickly on the national scene. He wasn't ready for the bigs.

The only thing I disagreed with Perry on was illegal immigration. Everything else he was spot on.

Perry's amazing fall from grace: Gov. Perry -- "I have come to the conclusion that there is no viable path to victory for my candidacy in 2012" -- No kidding Rick, we knew this the minute you opened your mouth and started this political fantasy, especially the first week when you suggested that Bernanke should be lynched, and declined to back off your argument that Social Security is a unconstitutional Ponzi scheme, that was the beginning of the end for Gov Goodhair.

What doomed the Perry campaign? ... duh, Rick Perry did. You don't need to be a genius or have CNN or Fox do a comprehensive analysis to explain Perry's amazing downfall, his stupidity and ignorance were to great for Americans to ignore -- It was obvious that anti-education Perry didn't have the intellectual chops for the top job and probably couldn't generate an original thought if his life depended on it.

It was Perry's complete lack of intelligence, mind numbing debate performances, incoherent prepackaged interviews, huge voter disconnect and low single-digit performances in both Iowa and New Hampshire that ultimately did him in. Perry's now failed campaign bid gave our electorate a clear vision of what an embarrassing M-O-R-O-N he actually is. Perry's ridicules performance brought absolutely nothing of relevance to the campaign, and embarrassed establishment Republicans all over the country. Texas would be much better off without Perry back in Austin running the show.

So Perry's prime time moment is finally up, completely defeated and disgraced, he will have to explain his disastrous run to the lobbyists, religious leaders and millionaires who helped finance his bid, how he was able to squander a phenomenal amount of their money while his campaign sunk faster than the Costa Concordia --- Perry's ridiculous antics will surely be missed by many, and some of us think that Perry makes GWB look like a genius, but now it's time for the Regressive one to do TX and the rest of the nation a favor and slink back home to Paint Creek and find his true calling as a sanctimonious, pandering evangelical minister -- Adios, Mofo!

Told you so! I wonder where all the cheerleaders for Perry's candidacy, terrific campaign skills and ostensibly good chances at securing the nomination and the presidency have all gone? Just a few months ago there were numerous people posting on the Texas forum about what a great candidate Perry would be. When I suggested different, I was "corrected" even by some of the more serious posters.

Guys, one more proof that I am right and so many of my fellow-Texans back in the Lone Star State can be so wrong!

Gov Rick Perry officially enters the Texas Hall of Shame for Hypocrites -- Perry's rental home costs state $750k

Gov Laughingstock may have finally suspended his campaign, but has reportedly slunk back to his $8500.00 per month rental mansion in West Austin that TX taxpayers still bear the burden for.

Last time I checked Perry was still a public servant who supposedly worked for the people of Texas. While most Texans in 2012 will be concerned with the future of TX public education, the economy, state budget cuts, lack of infrastructure, illegal immigration and basic services - A Smug, Self-Serving and Crooked Perry will continue his hypocrisy of slashing public education,(Texas already has below-average K-12 edu funding compared to other states) as well as lay off large numbers of teachers while school enrollment is increasing rapidily, increase class sizes, eliminate sports programs and take additional measures that undermine the quality of TX education. Texas eliminated state funding for pre-K programs that serve approx 100k mostly at-risk children, or more than 40 percent of the state’s pre-K students. The budget also reduces state K-12 funding to 9.4 percent below the minimum amount required by TX state law.

Perry is an classic example that too much Anti-intellectualism can defeat, or even destroy a politician. Perry's anti-education, anti-everything shtick is a failure, and trying to restrict the rights and behavior of everyone who doesn't conform to his conservative ideology and version of morality is extreme at best. While professing and peddling his born-again faith and conservative values, Perry will again be preening with phony concern to his base telling conservative seniors to donate their money and support while he attempts to slash their social security and medicare benefits. Perry will rail against federal government, at the same time he lobbies for federal support.

It all starts by making Gov Perry as inconsequential as we possibly can. Now that Perry has finally given up his ridicules fantasy of becoming POTUS and lost all credibility, we need to replace him as our governor.
