Its not fair to compare a city like Waco or Killeen to Dallas, Houston, or Austin. They are simply too different in size and character.

However, when you pit Killeen and Waco to their peers (other mid sized cities in Texas) they fare extremely well. The are the number 1 and 2 most diverse midsized cities in Texas respectively, they are both pretty middle of the road compared to the other midsized cities in Texas, and they seem to have more going on than a lot of other midsized cities in Texas.

They may not be perfect and they are still a little conservative for me, but compared to other cities in their same peer group, they fare very well.

I dont know as much about Killeen because I have not been there in a few years (and even then it was just for a wedding), but Waco has some pretty diverse areas:

Yeah; I don't expect people to like Waco [I don't like it myself, but it's my hometown]. However, some of these comments are just unnecessary and not needed. People act like it's the worst thing to be in Waco.

Killeen ain't conservative that's Mini Atlanta. Its far too young and transient a city to be conservative

Folks idea of being a Christian in the K, is coming to church and sitting in the back pew after you was shakin yo ass at the club last night.

Yeah that post was ridiculous. However, the last part of his comment does have some merit to it since Killeen is such a young transient city.

Killeen is one little chocolate city in Texas. Lots of black owned businesses and entrepeneurship on the rise. A good percentage of well to do blacks there (mostly due t.o the military) Plus you have a lot of people not from here. People from New York Jersey Georgia Virginia California. You even have quite a few Katrina evacuees left.

Killeen is nowhere near being a black mecca, a la Atlanta.
