This is why the upscale shopping argument is silly. The Dallas - Fort Worth, just like Atlanta and Chicago, is an area growing exponentially as a regional shopping market. Not just growing! Not just booming! But it is zooming along exponentially because of all the booming communities around it.
Someone explained this to me and I understood what they were saying. Why is this so difficult to understand?

Actually, there is much more to the mall than I ever imagined:

Houston has the highest GDP in Texas. The rest of what you posted is irrelevant.

Doesn't matter if you have 7,000 hotel rooms or 3,000 Houston still leads Texas & the South economically.

Dallas is destined to forever remain a convention city. Nevermind growing your GDP or Fortune 500 companies to compete with Houston's.

Houston's Uptown/Galleria is on a whole other level than Dallas' Galleria or North Park which is a glorified suburban style 2 story mall. Houston's Galleria feels & looks more urban in comparison, especially walking through the mall with a 901' skyscraper looming over your head through the glass skylights.
Did Dallas do something to you at some point to make you hate it so? You certainly never miss a chance to knock it down, and most of your comments about it are so off-base its as it you have never even been here.

The number of hotel rooms for Houston is only for Downtown. Over 1000 of them coming from one hotel. Nice try tho.

The mall vs mall trend in this thread is depressing and embarassing.

You think people argue about whose malls are better in a San Francisco vs Los Angeles thread??

Dynamo sounds cool too. FC Dallas...WTF is that supposed to mean? Should have stuck with the Sidekicks & Tatu.
So it's "country bumpkin" for Dallas teams to actually have TEXAS-related names? And you think the "Houston TEXANS" is a cool name?!? That's the worst name in all of pro sports. It just screams, "we couldn't think of anything else".

Metro Matt just can't make up his mind. He thinks it's cool for Houston to have prairies but Dallas rolling prairies is barren, treeless land. Same thing with the Texans, they have the coolest name because their name is representing Texas. Dallas teams on the other hand are the worst for the same thing.

Dude, Houston has a higher GDP, relax Dallasites and everybody else knows that. Where did that even come from? Dallas has a bigger market for shopping though. It doesn't take anything away from Houston's GDP. You have to give credit where it's due.

Uh...if you know your football, the Texans franchise actually started out in...*drum roll please*....DALLAS.

1951-1952 genius.

Houston picked the Texans name not because it sounded cool, but to spite Dallas. They never out & out said it publicly, but just think about it for a second. We certainly kicked your asses last game.

I know one thing the Texans bull logo with Texas colors is way cooler than the grey & blue Deathstar & screams Texas more than the Cowboys logo which isn't even a Cowboy, but rather a logo that has nothing to do with your teams name.

In all fairness Rangers is kind of archaic in its reference to Texas. Texans on the other-hand just sounds nice but maybe I'm biased since I'm a Texan... It's pretty obvious why they were named the Texans; pure marketing to draw fans from around the state.
