I am always taken aback by how developed Dallas and Houston were 50, 60, 70 years ago, while out of towners still think we ride horses to work.

I have a visitor from Quebec a couple of years ago who stood with his mouth open when he first saw houston streets. He said he wasn't expecting paved roads, let alone all the wide avenues

yes I am. but he was Canadian, he doesn't know better. he thinks we are all John waynes. lol, howdy partner.

he went to NASA and the galleria and was like a kid in a candy store. took him downtown and he walked up and down those long streets (IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER), he loved it.

Took him to a Jazz cafe downtown and he was making friends with everybody. the waiter gave him tons of free drinks
