I'm glad another franchise owner was charitable enough to give your market another team after the Oilers were ran out of town. Can't help but notice that it wasn't exactly speedy, though.

And UH lost the CUSA Championship Game and went on to the TicketCity Bowl... Not exactly a Sugar Bowl appearance, eh?

That's pretty bad when you have people supposedly from Illinois now trolling the thread....

Premise of the thread is dumb anyway, the two cities are too much alike with any differences being mostly subjective.

The Oilers weren't "ran out of town". They became the Tennessee Titans because Tennessee needed a team.

If that was the case do you think Houston's prominent urban/Hip Hop community would still be repping the city with retro Oilers jerseys & ball caps on their songs & music videos? Go in any sports apparel store or website & you will see the Oilers are one of the best selling teams of all time.

I don't see Dallas' urban community repping the Dallas Texans which are now the Houston Texans. We took your teams name.

There's no NHL team in Houston simply because hockey is not a popular sport in Texas. Hence why the Dallas Stars rank 28th out of 30 NHL teams in attendance.

One thing's for sure - it's not about achieving a certain "level." Houston is a higher-income metro than DFW and has just a few hundred thousand less people. There is more than enough money and people to go around to support an NHL team - just not nearly enough interest.

Sorry that you don't have a clue.

So they just picked any random team to move to Tennessee? Profitability, venue, fan support didn't matter? Good thing the spin wheel of team movement didn't land on the Patriots...

The Dallas Texans stopped playing in 1962. 50 years ago. I think they could have been called the Dallas Hoodrat Gangbang Extravaganza and the Dallas urban community wouldn't be repping them.

If Houston's prominent hip hop community, none of which I've ever heard of and none of which have any national name recognition whatsoever, want to wear antiquated jerseys that's fine. But you're a fool if you think you lost the Oilers because they just randomly wanted to move to Tennessee. It was probably the same reason why the Texans only play in a 70,000 seat venue.

Since when do southerners or Texans give a damn about hockey? Please tell me y'all aren't serious about arguing over a Yankee sport.

Is that what we're battling over now? Who can be more like Canada? Gtfo.

Oh so Tennessee needed a team so they took the one that no one cared about in Texas. Makes sense.

And clearly you have no clue about rap or fashion in general. 80's throwbacks (aka old jerseys) are what's popular right now. Ever heard of Mitchell and Ness? Dallas Texans weren't around in the 80's...

But I've seen the argument about how diverse and cultural Houston is. Sports are included in that. So which is it?

Also, I am a native Texas and played hockey my entire life while living there. Just because you aren't interested doesn't mean the entire state isn't....

Yeah, a whopping 9,000 less seats than Jerry World. Wow! So hosting one of the "premier" darling NFL teams nets that small of a difference in stadium capacity compared with a ten-year old franchise that just landed its first playoff berth?
