I want to disappear for a while or forever. There are many mountains around here.

Any tips?

Read the story of Chris McCandles. The results of poor preparation are deadly.

I agree with this 100%. There are plenty of places in Montana and Wyoming but make sure you're not disappearing on someone else's property.

Keep in mind the people you leave behind when you disappear. I knew someone who talked about disappearing and then he did. Everyone called me looking for him but I was just as much in the dark as everyone else. To this day, no one knows what happened to him-whether he is alive or dead. He left behind siblings, his mother, & his daughter-not to mention me who was his significant other.

I'll go with a bit gothic whimsy here and suggest the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness

You don't say if you have wilderness survival skills and/or experience. Perhaps you don't care if you live or die, but there may be intense suffering before you die out there if you are not extremely well prepared.

Why do you want to disappear? Running from the law?

Perhaps you will want to give it a try for a month before burning all your bridges behind you. That trial month may teach you a lot and cause you to change your mind, provided that you survive it.

Pitcairn Island. And, be sure to change your name and your face, (beard, hair style, glasses, etc.). It will be a long time before anybody thinks to look for you on Pitcairn.
