I don't agree with the above. Agents of Shield isn't a Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, The Sopranos or The Wire, it had its own defined rules in that it is not in the real world, it is in the Marvel Earth 19999999 world where the movies are as well.
Genre is irrelevant. But the reason those shows were so great was because the writers were able to take the larger conflicts of the story and make it personal and compelling to the characters. AoS is really struggling to do that.

None of those shows were about good guys, though. Just bad guys and worse guys.
I don't watch any of those movies and don't follow the comics either. I don't think they have to pattern the show all that closely after any certain shows or movies or comics. Creativity and originality are important to me. It can be based loosely on other things, but copying too much is lazy and boring! During parts of Season 1, they did sometimes get lazy and a bit boring!I like the characters, but of course just having them hang around and talk constantly about their lives wouldn't work...this is an action show, so there has to be stories and action, too.
So long as they are linked to the movie series, they need to be for the major issue. If I remember correctly by this time last season, this was a big complaint by those that dropped the show.
I finally saw the end of this week's Agents of Shield (the DVR messed up and cut the last nine minutes off) and it wasn't that great but it looks like there maybe a good pay-off for it, next week. Can't wait for the fall mid-season finale.
Why would they wait until March to continue the show? Do they want to kill it? How many people will even remember what happened in the last several episodes by then?
I really dislike this habit the networks have of breaking up the TV season during the holiday season not by two weeks, but by one or two months.
