There does seem to be a visceral hatred displayed by some towards cars, though. It's like some people will come up with all kinds of bogus reasons to hate them.
I've always loved cars. Our advances in auto technology are far more impressive than anything we've done in terms of transit, imo. There's so little appreciation for the beauty of the engineering involved. How could you not love this?
Some shrink in the face of real freedom, they need the structure that public transit provides them. But as long as they are lining up in a neat little row and filing on and filing off with smiles on their faces, let them have their public transit, there is a whole world out there for the rest of us to explore in our cars.

I don't mind cars in particular and sometimes I enjoy driving, though I don't usually find driving fun.
My main for reason for disliking them is the changes in urban design they cause as well as lowering pedestrian volumes. And in some places, their noise is rather irritating.
shucks handsup, your making me blush.
