I almost missed this. Ever....for any day of the year.

A RECORD MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 80 DEGREES WAS SET AT
BRIDGEPORT CT YESTERDAY JULY 19, 2013. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 77 DEGREES
SET IN 2008.

THIS ALSO TIES THE MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED FOR
BRIDGEPORT CT. THIS TIES THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 80 DEGREES SET ON
JULY 4 2002.

Wow! Looks like some severe, even dangerous, heat is building up in Eastern Europe, already has. And even more new heat flowing up from Africa. Temps might rise to a incredible 44C/111F next weekend! Even 850 hpa temps are close to 25C/77F!
Hopefully this is not going to happen in this severity.

28 July:

Here's the evening situation. A band of at least 30C/86F possible all the way from Athens to Estonia. Looks like some nasty low system is approaching England.

28 July afternoon temps, quite scary actually:

WOW!

But looks that the UK is dodging a bullet! 30 July:

Big supercell-like storm off the coast of Ireland now - thunderstorms hate the British Isles so much, they would rather form over open water than over land!

Looked like there were some pretty crazy thunderstorms here last night. Just missed our area, though. I couldn't even hear the thunder, but to our east and southeast I could see seemingly nonstop lightning flashes 5-10 seconds apart for a good 15-30 minutes or so. Must have been crazy. I'm glad that storm wasn't over our area.
