from the times

In the city: Rain will start soon if it hasn’t already, and begin changing to snow around 11 a.m. Rain and snow may mix for much of the day as temperatures hover in the low- to mid-30s. Stuff falls from the sky till around midnight.

Perhaps three inches of snow in Manhattan and the Bronx, where a winter weather advisory remains in effect till 1 a.m. Only an inch or two at most in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

makes you wonder if the founding fathers put the big cities there for a reason. LOL Or have the cities grown because of it. (Philly, NYC, Boston)

But whats happening today or any day has nothing to do with Climo. Nothing. It's all about the track and current setup. Like NWS said... this is such a hard forecast because it's outside Climo. Maybe they are finally learning you cant go by climo. lol

A look at the Jet Stream and storms. Storm still off North Carolina. Orange lines are the 500mb heights. Storms follow those winds/path. Trough digging to Gulf states.

There's a lot more moisture with this storm.

Just started snowing in Culpeper Co Va. Might not stick tho. I'm in the 1-3in range but we'll see. If it moves east a tad I could end up in the 3-6in range. Not too bad.

We're up to 2+" at this point but what is coming down is not the huge flakes that I saw earlier this morning (they made Wheaties look tiny). No plows running so far but they might have to start soon if it keeps on at this rate. However today is an early release day and the schools get out at 11:30 for K-8 and noon for the high school most of the buses should have the kids delivered home before it gets too deep and that may keep the plows in the equipment sheds around the county.

_____________

Update 9:47 am - A plow just went by my house.

Not sure if you guys know about the ping project. Its very helpful and useful for NWS. Don't forget to file your report. Check out the loop of reports out there to see who's changing, snowing, raining, ect.

Download the app and report.
