Does the Hudson Bay have much of an impact on our weather?
Yip. Aside from a NW wind flow having less restriction over ice(which helps the air coming into the U.S be colder) it helps push the Jet stream further south. Of course the right flow has to be established with a trough in the East but with more usual High Pressures in that area that means one thing, more cold air can come spilling down.

Flip side of the southern Heat...
Check out Saranac Lake NY lows past 3 days.. This morning hit 43° again.. Below the normal of 50°. More like Mid Sept normals
Big cloud to the west, but otherwise blue sky. Blocking out the sun, was planning on swimming somewhere but it'll probably feel too col without the sun
117f heat index in Arkansas! I like heat, but that's ridiculous.
We all have limits. lol. That's Searcy, AR. 3 Day history

Low 80s again here, so fed up with the strong August sun! Had the A/C blasting in the car. Thank God stores have A/C. Stupid me forgot to lower the A/C at home, I get home, my cold loving dog is panting and the room temp is up to 79F. UGH! Hate this season.
It's funny how dogs have weather preferences as well, we have one that LOVES snow but he hates the rain, and the other one is a heat lover like me, she'll literally lay in the sun all day, and she shivers in temps below 50F.

That's mine as well. We'll go for a walk in the rain but she rushes to go back inside yet stays out as long as she wants in the snow. And You can tell how her energy level increases with the cooler/colder weather compared to being drained and quicker she wants to come inside when its warm/hot. Just like me. When I found this out I was like that is so cool! lol We would walk for miles with the temp below 20°F(-7C) and she would love it but noticed she turns around and is slower when it's above 80F(27C). Her breed is from Eastern Canada after all. Maybe a Husky might be my next dog.
