i'm sick of hearing about why black men are not hired when all genders and races are being affected by a weak economy. I'm a black unemployed male and would never use race as an excuse if I was rejected after a job interview. You just analyze what you can do better the next time and move on instead of making excuses when a company chooses someone else for a job.

I really think in this day and age very few employers are truly prejudiced. There maybe a few ignorant people out there who might make a racial joke or a manager with some outdated stereotypes. However, most people can be convinced to at least give everyone a chance.

The biggest things that stand in the way of more black men being hired are the obvious ones:

1. Too many high school dropouts.
2. Too many with a criminal record.
3. Dress habits that make the employer think the applicant is sloppy.
4. Poor ability to communicate and use of a ghetto dialect.
5. Limited employment experience.

Get past those hurdles and a black applicant will be just fine.

Then why was I not hired in the past 4 years when I had all of the above?

The limited employment experience is a catch-22 when you are an employer and the perosn you are interviewing is a College grad with a few internships during a recession.

The number of unemployed is plentiful as well.

The number of jobs . . .are not.

it's too easy to say RACE was the reason.

TVSG, I know people make fun of you in the other forums, but what made you bring that up? I was asking for a reason. Are you implying or trying to imply that race was the reason?

A lot of "minorities" are getting jobs, especially where there are government contracts, over Whites now. The trend is to hire nonwhites.

So all of this "racist this or that" simply isn't so.

Nonwhites are getting jobs over Whites.

That's what it looked like you were doing since you were not hired in 4 years.
