What an out of touch comment.
it give them opportunity to apply themselves to other learning to get away from minimum wages jobs

i honestly dont know anybody over the age of 22 that makes minimum wages, you can take a 40 class on safety on the internet that would qualify you as a safety technician and they pay about $17 a hour, you can dig ditches as a plumber helper for $15, or even one of those utilities line locators pay more than minimum

Go into a fast food restaurant or a dollar store and you can meet quite a few.

It will, with them doing 21st century jobs instead.

That doesn't answer the point. The fact is with a smaller worker force, it will hurt the economy as far less people will be able to be economic players and buy anything more than needs, if that. The economy has ridden on the buying of wants, even before the 1950's boom you alluded to. Marketing existed into the late 1800's with Uneedabiscuit.

It will barely be noticed. This is not a group with abundant disposable income, which is what drives the economy.

Plus the reductions will come gradually, as fast food automates franchises one at a time.

And how do you expect them to do that?

Go back to school, learn new things, get new degrees/certifications and then get rejected for not having experience in the new area.

Employers believe that people who learn new things will become blithering idiots in the new role and not hire them for the new roles. They pigeonhole the career changers in their old roles.

Seriously. Your answer is flippant, doesn't address the catch-22, and has an unrealistic view of the job market.

Plenty are forced to do so because the jobs that they ARE qualified for don't exist anymore. Plenty of recent grads are working in Starbucks because nobody will hire them without experience. Then when we have older workers deemed "overqualified" (because the jobs that they ARE qualified for don't exist anymore) - they take these jobs because the alternative - starvation - is not an answer.

Not without experience. No company hires someone after they take a class. The only people who say this are those shilling for schools seeking to make money.

Not without an apprenticeship which is getting more difficult to get due to the huge amount of competition.

And they don't hire without experience.

Seriously, do you think the job market is rainbows and unicorns out there?

And how do you expect them to get those jobs, when none of those jobs require zero experience?

Someone goes back to school, gets the required education and know-how, and oops, no job for them, because they have no experience.

You seem to believe that the job market is all rainbows and unicorns.

They take the most basic entry level jobs in their new fields for several years. Then, after several years start moving up the food chain.

There are zero entry level jobs that require that kind of education/training, that require zero experience.

How do you expect people to get the experience without a job, and get the job without experience? I've asked you twice already and you don't address the catch-22.

The job market is not rainbows and unicorns here.

.
One can easily get the experience by being an intern, during college.

Right now, my office has about 2 dozen doing just that. We happen to pay them a wage, some corps do not pay them, but the value for them is less the wage , and more the experience.
