Poster I responded to said jobs in question were highly stressful.

So they would seek new work, and he indicated all others he had were less stressful.

created by killing tens of millions, unfortunately in Europe mainly, plus Japan, during the prior decade, destroying entire cities, much of Europe industry, and eliminating all industrial competition. Plus a few million more US men never worked again after WWII from war deaths or injuries.

Thank God that unnatural 1947-1970 era will not repeat. It only could again, via a similar change to the global competitive landscape.

Which weren't exactly war aims.

"Few million"? Total US casualties in WWII were 400K killed, 671K wounded, so just over a million total. One of the lowest, if not the lowest, casualty rates, about 8%, of the major powers involved.

With a US male pop at most half todays total, that toll took out a ton of labor.

No competition was the US gain for a few decades. Europe was in ruins. Japan , too Including factories and construction material firms with means to rebuild them.

So the economy will still roll on without tens of millions of workers and more families? Unless you want Universal Base Income, this is an economic nightmare waiting to happen.
