And yes - maybe if a white or black American had taken 4 years of Spanish in college, they "might" speak enough Spanish to be considered for a job, but they would still have to be happy with minimum wage and many college graduate whites and blacks don't want that kind of pay. So that leaves the GEDs and high school graduates to compete -- and they were never given the opportunity to become fluent in that language. They will not find jobs.

No - but massive unlimited immigration obviously goes hand in hand with high unemployment of Americans.

Americans need to realize they're being replaced. As long as someone will come here illegally or legally and work for cheaper, that's the case. The government is not for the American people, it's for the cheap labor corporations.

In April 2000, the U.S. unemployment rate was 3.9%.

Were there no illegals here back then?

OP has a very valid point and it isn't just retail clerks and others in service industry jobs.

How about lazy and inept office workers? Especially in doctor's offices.

True story: MIL is having surgery and medical records were faxed to the surgeon's office to the admin. asst.'s attention.

I called the next day to see if they were received and had some other questions and left all this info on her voice mail.

Waited 24 hours and then called again... I got her live....she said the fax machine hasn't been working for two days...it might be out of ink?????....lol...and she has like 30 VM messages...she is so busy...

How is that my problem? And how does anyone let a fax machine that is not working sit there like that....do something about it...and this is regarding important medical information.

This is what you have working in offices today...hard to belive when there are 100 people out there for every job...you would think it would scare some of them into doing a better job.

yep poor quality however, to be blunt, these were the ones who had some work ethic left. showing up for a job 5 days a week at a set time, at any wage, would be unthinkable for millions. we got off the freeway in about 1963, never got back on.

Actually that would be great. The USA started falling apart when women left the home to go to work. Kids on their own and all that.
Evertbody knows this.

That's just the beginning of quality. Customer service and developing a positive customer relationship is a whole other ballgame that some businesses don't know anything about.

On our trip to grandma's today for xmas we stopped at a diner for breakfast and the service bad and i thought about this thread and my wife and I started to discuss it.
One thought that we had is that in the service industry you now have people taking jobs waiting table, running a register, or whatever who have never done that type of jobs or haven't done them in 10+ years. Right now many people are taking jobs just to get by. Either they were laidoff or their spouse was and they took a low wage job because it was all that they could find or all they were qualified for. An management is more than willing to hire them because they come cheaper than someone with more experience.
