As a result of NAFTA and SPP agreements with Mexico, we now are being overrun with 9,500 selected Mexican truck companies and their trucks entering The United States

Family helps out unemployed Arrow Trucking worker - 12/23/09 - Houston News - abc13.com

Hundreds of truckers and their families in Houston and across the nation face tough times because Tulsa-based Arrow Trucking went belly up days before Christmas.

You really want to claim it's not all connected, 9,500 foreign trucking companies -- not drivers, 9,500 COMPANIES all given a free pass to take over the trucking industry here, and American truck drivers suddenly laid off.

The jobs are out there -- millions of jobs, they are not for the American people however.

On the Internet, more than 1,000 people have joined a Facebook group, listing phone numbers and offering rides to stranded drivers across the country.

Not only that - the American truck drivers weren't even provided transportation to get back home.

But -- we'll keep voting and electing the same greedy gutless politicians we have.

So what exactly do Mexican trucking companies have to do with illegal immigration? We have had Canadian trucking companies here for years, how come the world hasn't ended because of them?

And what does Arrow going belly-up have to do with illegal immigration, or Mexican trucking companies?

The links you make....

Arrow's demise has nothing to do with Mexican trucking companies - for one thing Arrow specialised in FLATBEDS - not an area Mexican trucking companies want to touch....... but I've noticed this particular poster wants to bring everything back to stemming from either illegal immigration or that the unemployed are unemployed through their own fault (that's what I get from most of his/her posts anyway)

Yeah, if they wanted to hide/smuggle something or somebody they couldn't do it in flatbeds. LOL.

We all hear about how high unemployment is. We all hear about how hard it is to find a job. OK. With so many people looking for work, wouldn't you think company's would pick the best out of the best? To me, this makes perfect sense. If I had a company that was hiring, and a bunch of people needed jobs..well, lucky for me I'd get to pick the absolute best of the bunch!.. Right???? I mean this all sounds so logical to me!

Lately, at places like diners and retail..the service has been awful. I normally don't care too much about customer service as I've worked it before. I understand after awhile it just.. gets to you! ...but this one waiter was horrible. We got to this dinner at 11:45pm and they closed at 12 (we didn't know, actually). The manager was still letting people in after 12 and our waiter was getting P.O'd.. lol..and just.. was awful. I expect just basic customer service, that's all. That was one experience. I've had a TON of rude cashiers lately, too!

I can't say I have some super awesome long tern job, but it pays pretty well and our company is fairly new and upcoming. There's lots of options to move up, so it's a good thing...but...they hire such wastes. The people there act very much like we are in high school, however, they are in their late 20s and UP...up to about 40's-50's. Maybe I'm just not with this crowd of people at work.. lol

For example, people from my work totally ignore certain dress codes and other policies...and they actually spend more time taking pictures of themselves in their cubicle at work.

I wonder as to why things are like that? Not that I wish to work in an uptight environment, but at the same time we need some professionalism. I am by far the prime example of professional..but.. I'm there to work and that's it.

Here's just one example. That's actually from a friend of a friend's...friend.. (lol Facebook is out of control)

That's actually a worker on the clock at work.

So besides the people at my job, and the unfortunate experiences I've been having lately..what's your take on this? Are there a lot of "undeserving" people with jobs out there?
Yep.

While doing my Christmas shopping, I had some people who didn't even say as much as an Hello as I checked out. I told them to have a good weekend and I got a "Uh huh" or sometimes even nothing.

When shoppers aren't necessarily all THAT motivated to shop, customer service is key.

I won't say it was all bad. I had a pretty helpful girl at Target that greeted me with a cheery attitude even though it was very close to closing time.

The market allows companies like Arrow to fold if they please. People lose jobs, and it sucks, but we need to move on.

I just hope the employees and owner/drivers get the money they're owed.

Been burned twice myself by employers that laid off and never paid my last month's salary etc.

It's hard enough being laid off and waiting on UE to kick in and trying to find jobs with nothing in your pocket, and then to have your last paycheck stolen (and it IS stealing to not pay former employees) puts the icing on the cake.

See, now you've gotten all emotional. My point is that American values went down the drain when people here started believing it was more important to drive a bigger Escalade than their neighbor and to get their coffee from Starbucks instead of brewing it at home than it was to raise their children properly.
Judging from your outburst, you fit that mold.
