tell me then, which people?

Would you take a pay cut to $3 hr and still take pride and give it your all.

or does this only apply to other people?
It is a stupid question but yes, I would work hard at it.

Exactly.

No. And personally I think that $30K is a "low wage" for anyone who is responsible for anything more than just showing up.

Except if you're in a commission based job. I've seen mortgage brokers on a $30k salary pull in over $100k after commission.

Nope.

I would work harder for $50/hour as opposed to a measly $2/hour.

I believe that my efforts should match the rewards.

I would absolutely work just as hard. No one will promote the minimum wage worker who slacks off. You work harder, you show extra effort and you are rewarded with promotions and/or raises.

The person who doesn't work hard at a low wage job because it is a lower wage is the person who will never rise above that pay level.

in theory perhaps, but it doesn't work like that in the real world.

since when did the hard working cleaner at MacD's rise to become manager?

Most of McDonalds managers started flipping burgers.

How exactly do you think promotions work? Do you think that ANYONE promotes the person who doesn't try harder? Showing up and doing exactly what you are told (no more, no less) is the minimum to not get fired. It is the equivalent of getting a 'D' on a test in school. To be the employment equivalent of the 'A' student, you have to do things beyond what you are asked to do, volunteer to take on extra work, etc.

You may get a promotion or added responsibility, but a raise? Many businesses will just keep piling on more work without giving you a penny.

So no, I wouldn't work extra hard, but I would do a decent job. If they want me to work harder or take on more, they can compensate me.

You are the one that has no idea how the real world works. You would be the last person I would ever hire.
